Camiseta Sewing Camp

A esta camiseta le tenía yo unas ganas enormes, desde que se la vi puesta a Inma de Saiziland en el Sewing Camp, hará casi un año y dijeron que sacarían el patrón para hacer un cose conmigo. La espera bien ha merecido la pena, ¡porque me encanta!

One year ago at the Sewing Camp, Inma from Saiziland was wearing a really cool top and promised to prepare a pattern and sewalong to share with everyone. It has been worth the wait, because I really love it!

Es una camiseta amplia, con mangas tipo murciélago y ajustada en las caderas. Es talla única y muy fácil de coser. La única modificación que hice fue estrechar la parte de abajo, porque me quedaba un poco suelta. En el cose conmigo explica detalladamente como hacerlo.

It is a very loose top with batwing sleeves. The pattern is one size and the only change that I made was to narrow a bit the bottom part at the hips. There are instructions to do so in the sewalong. And eventhough it is in Spanish, the pictures are clear enough to understand it.

Creo que la gracia de este patrón es aprovechar esas costuras delanteras y traseras para combinar dos telas diferentes, ¿no os parece que estiliza un montón? Usé una nueva tela de Lillestoff, un punto de viscosa con efecto metalizado. Lo venden en distintos colores, pero me encantó el negro sobre negro. El resto eran un poco too much brilli para mi. Enseguida tuve claro que iría perfecta para este patrón. La he combinado con punto de viscosa liso que reciclé de otra camiseta que no usaba.

I think that the coolest thing about this pattern is to use those seams to combine two different fabrics, creating a really flattering look. I used the new Metallic Jersey from Lillestoff . It is a lightweight viscose jersey with this nice metallic effect. It is available in different colors, but I fell in love with the black on black one, the others were a bit too shiny for my taste. I combined it with some solid black viscose jersey that I recicled from another top that I wasn't wearing anymore.

Mira que me cuesta poco hacer tonterías si me pones en una calle vacía y con unos grafitis de fondo jaja. Muy importante lo de "vacía". Esta vez no había nadie espiando. O eso espero.

Leave me in an empty street with some cool wall behind and I will go a bit crazy with my silly pose lol. But we do have fun and that's all about it, right? This time there was noone around spying on us, or at least so I hope.

Para la fotos, he combinado la camiseta con mis jeggings entrometidos, que publiqué aquí el invierno pasado. Son el patrón Classic Black de la Ottobre 5/2016, siguiendo el magnífico cose conmigo de La Costurera Entrometida para ajustarlos a mi cuerpo.

Here I am wearing my new top with these jeggings that I already blogged about here last winter. The pattern for those is Classic Black from Ottobre Design 5/2016, following the great sewalong from La Costurera Entrometida to make the necessary adjustments for my body.

But before I go it is time to say goodbye. RUMS comes to an end. This was a linkparty created by Mara here in Spain, where we posted our selfish makes once a week. Kommatia Patterns J006

¡Me he cosido una parka y me encanta! Os enseño primero la espalda porque es mi parte favorita.

Ya os digo yo que eso de hacer de tester y poder probar los patrones antes que el resto del mundo mundial tiene su gracia jejeje. Es el patrón J006 de Kommatia Patterns, que salió a la venta justo ayer.

I made a parka and I just love it! Let me show you the back first, because that is my favourite part. I have to admit that being a tester and getting hands into the patterns before the rest of the world is pretty cool :). This is the pattern J006 from Kommatia Patterns, which was just released yesterday.

Es una parka oversize con capucha y la espalda más larga que el delantero. No lleva forro, pero sí instrucciones detalladas para dejar bien acabada la costura de la capucha al cuello. Un diseño muy actual y ponible. Aunque pueda parecer complicada de coser, no lo es en absoluto. Evidentemente requiere su tiempo, pero no tiene ninguna gran dificultad.

It is an unlined oversize parka with hood and the back longer than the front. Eventhough it is unlined, the detailed instructions let you finish the hood seam very neatly with a twill tape. It is such a modern and wearable design. Although it might seem difficult to make, it is not. It obviously requires some time, but there are no major complications.

Esta es la versión de prueba del patrón. En la versión final se han introducido algunas mejoras, como las mangas más largas (las mías ya las alargué también) y los bolsillos un poco más grandes, entre otras cosas.

This is a tester version. There have been some little changes in the final pattern to improve it even further. For example, the sleeves have been lenghtened (I already lengthened mine), and slightly bigger pockets. 

Utilicé una tela de algodón encerado y me encanta el resultado. Sigue siendo agradable al tacto al ser un material natural, pero gracias al encerado es impermeable, lo cual la hace muy práctica para este tiempo loco que estamos teniendo ahora mismo.

Este tipo de telas suelen ser caras, pero la encontré muy bien de precio aquí, en Pro Fabrics, una tienda de telas técnicas del Reino Unido. Además, indican que esta se puede lavar, lo cual no es frecuente en este tipo de telas. Con el uso, aparecen algunas marcas en arrugas o dobleces, pero van y vienen y es la gracia de este tipo de tela. Solo decir que me la compré también en otro color para otro proyecto, ¡porque había que aprovechar la oferta!

My fabric choice was a waxed cotton and I completely love the result. It is still nice to the touch being a natural fibre, but thanks to the waxing it is waterproof, and that makes it really convenient for the crazy weather we are having right now. Let me tell you... it doesn't rain much here... and that is why when it does you never have an umbrella with you hahaha.

This type of fabric is quite expensive, but I found it very low priced here, in Pro Fabrics, a retailer of performance fabrics in the UK. They also indicate that this sort of waxed cotton is washable, which isn't always the case with such fabrics. With use, some marks appear in folds or wrinkles, but they come and go and is one of the cool features of this fabric. 

Ese pliegue de la cintura le da el toque perfecto a la parka y hace que no se vea demasiado lisa. Lleva cordones en la capucha y en el bajo, ideal para poder ajustarla un poco. Y dos bolsillos superpuestos con solapa.

The fold at the waist gives the perfect touch to the parka and thanks to that it doesn't look all plain. It has cords at the hood and the bottom hem, and two pockets with flaps which are really easy to make.

El cordón, los terminales y la cremallera son también de Pro Fabrics.

La capucha tiene el tamaño perfecto. Y aquí podéis ver lo amplia que es la parka. Yo cosí la talla S. De caderas me correspondía la M, pero como era tan ancho la S me ha ido de maravilla.

The hood has the perfect size. And here you can see how oversized the parka is. I made size S according to my bust measurement. My hips falled into M, but being that wide, it wasn't necessary to grade between sizes.

Total y en resumen, estoy totalmente encantada. Va a ser mi chaqueta para este otoño y no me la pienso quitar hasta que llegue el frío. La terminé en una mega maratón costuril para poder estrenarla en un día lluvioso. El día de las fotos me morí de calor, pero eso no fue nada comparado con la muerte por vergüenza al terminar la sesión de fotos y darme cuenta que habíamos tenido de público a un grupo de adolescentes que debían estar preguntándose qué demonios se le había pasado a esta por la cabeza para dárselas de super modelo jajaja...

In short, I absolutely love my new parka. It will be my jacket for this autumm until the cold arrives. I sewed it in a crazy sprint to be able to wear it on a rainy day. Then, the day we took the photos it was super warm and I almost died overheated... And that was definetely less painful than the death by embarressement that I had just after the shoot, when I realised that some teenagers had been observing us the whole time and probably wondering what the hell was she thinking, acting there as a supermodel lol.

Blackwood Cardigan

Hacía mucho tiempo que tenía ganas de probar este patrón, el Blackwood Cardigan de Helen's Closet. Además, aprovecho para participar en el #cosycardichallenge, que consiste en coser un cardigan y compartirlo en Instagram hasta finales de octubre para participar en el sorteo de distintos premios.

I wanted to try the Blackwood Cardigan from Helen's Closet since it first was released. It finally came its moment and it was right on time to participate in the #cosycardichallenge.

El patrón es muy sencillo de coser y viene con dos versiones, una más larga con bolsillos y una más corta, que es la que he hecho yo. Al ser un cardigan abierto, lo veo ideal para el entretiempo y fue perfecto para esos días en Francia que nos hizo un tiempo raro raro. ¿Es posible tener frío y calor al mismo tiempo? Pues descubrí que sí jajaja. Cuando un sol potente te calienta la cabeza y a la vez un viento helado se cuela a través de la ropa.

The pattern is very easy to sew and comes with two versions. Mine is the shorter one, and there is a longer one with pockets. But who doesn't know this pattern already? Because it is an open cardi, I find it ideal for this weather in between seasons. It was actually perfect for our holiday in France, where I discovered that it is possible to feel warm and cold at the same time. Like when a strong sun is heating up your head but a frozen wind gets through your clothes at the same time. Crazy.

Las mangas son bastante largas, como a mí me gusta. Después de toda una vida con ropa comprada y mangas demasiado cortas, ahora me las hago siempre extra largas, pero en este caso ya vienen así, no he tenido que modificar nada.

The sleeves are quite long, which I really love. I always sew extralong sleeves everywhere, to compensate for all the years of too short RTW sleeves.

No he hecho ninguna modificación al patrón, porque así es perfecto. Tengo ganas de hacer la versión larga, ahí está en esa lista interminable que tengo.

I didn't do any modifications at all to the pattern, because it is perfect as is. I want to do the long version as well, there it is, in my neverending to do list.

Y ahora veo que se me ha olvidado hablar de la tela. Es una tela de jersey canalé de viscosa con un tacto super agradable. Es de Lillestoff.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you about the fabric. It is a very soft viscose rib jersey from Lillestoff. I just love it.

Jedediah 2.0

Esta entrada se tendría que llamar "La mosca photobomber", o "Cómo molan estos pantalones que hasta les gustan a las moscas", o "Lo que tiene hacer fotos por el campo". En cualquier caso, aquí tenéis los nuevos Jedediah Pants de Ribi.

This post should be called "The photobomber fly", or "These pants are so cool that even flies love them" or "That's what happens when you take pictures on the countryside". In any case, today I am here to show you the new Jedediah Pants for Ribi.

El patrón es de Thread Theory. Después de hacerle los shorts que ya os enseñé aquí y de quedar totalmente encantada con el resultado, tenía que hacerle la versión larga. Utilicé una tela vaquera que tenía en casa, y que no es la ideal, porque tiene elasticidad y al poco de usarlos ya quedan dados de sí por todos lados.

The pattern is from Thread Theory. After making the linen shorts version that I already showed you here and being totally in love with the result, I had to sew the long version. I used some denim from my stash that has proofed not ideal for this project. The fabric has some stretch and after wearing them for a while, the pants get quite out of shape.

Aún así, no han quedado tan mal y me siento super feliz de haber superado el temor a los pantalones. Cosí la talla 30, la más pequeña. ¡Menos mal que no le van grandes!

Even with the not ideal fabric, the result isn't that bad and I am very happy to have finally overcome the fear of pants. I made size 30, the smallest, and the fit is perfect.

Y qué decir de esa bragueta. Pues que quedó peor que en los shorts. Pero tampoco hace falta ponerse perfeccionista, porque está perfecta incluso con sus imperfecciones. Hace un tiempo me dicen que voy a coser esto y me parto, vamos.

What can I say about the zip fly. It came out better in the shorts. But you know, it would be a bit irrational to go perfectionist, because even with its flaws I find it just perfect! If someone told me some time ago that I would be making jeans and flies I would have just laughed out loud as in "are you crazy?".

Estoy deseando hacerle otros en cuanto dé con una tela que me guste.

Looking forward to make another pair as soon as I find a fabric that I like.

No sé porqué ese día me dio por darle al zoom y no tengo casi ninguna foto de él entero para que se aprecien mejor en conjunto. Pero bueno, creo que os hacéis una idea de lo chulísimos que son jejeje.

I don't know why that day I went all zoom in and barely have any pictures to show you the whole general view. But you get the idea of how amazing this pattern is right?

Y por último, la pose estrella del día. La camiseta de Leonard Cohen tenía que salir sí o sí, porque es la única camiseta comprada que ha entrado en esta casa en el último año.

And to finish this post, this is the best pose of the day hehe. Leonard Cohen T-shirt had to appear no matter what. It is the only RTW bought T-shirt that entered this house in the last year. Ribi was his biggest fan, so this last piece was a must.

Kommatia Patterns T004

Tras unos días de vacaciones por la France, vuelvo a la carga para enseñaros mi nueva camiseta. Hace poco me surgió la oportunidad de hacer de tester para Kommatia Patterns. Aunque nunca había cosido ningún patrón de esta marca, sí que la había ido siguiendo desde hace un tiempo porque me gustaban sus patrones. Así que cuando me propusieron probar la camiseta T004 no me lo pensé dos veces. Aquí el resultado de mi primera experiencia tester.

After a short vacation in France, I am back with full energy to show you my new t-shirt. I got the chance to become a pattern tester for Kommatia Patterns and I could not be more excited about it! I had never tried their patterns before, but I had been recently following the brand because their patterns looked really attractive and eye-catching to me. So when I was offered to test the T004 t-shirt I did not think it twice. Here is the result of my very first tester experience ever.

Es una camiseta básica y ceñida. Normalmente soy de escotes más amplios, pero me ha sorprendido gratamente. Creo que es un estilo muy actual, sencillo y elegante, y me veo haciéndome un par más para este otoño ya con el patrón definitivo, por lo menos una lisa en negro. La que veis en las fotos fue la de prueba y en el patrón final se han realizado algunas pequeñas modificaciones para perfeccionar el ajuste.

It is a basic and tight t-shirt. I normally prefer wider necklines but I was happily surprised with this one. This style feels very modern, simple, elegant, and I am definetely going to sew a couple more for this autumm with the final pattern, at least one in black. The one that I am showing you today is the tester version and there have been some small adjustments in the final pattern to improve the fit even further.

Siguiendo la tabla de medidas, cosí la talla S, ampliando a una M en la cintura y caderas. Lo que más me gusta son las mangas. Mis mangas ideales, cortitas y ceñidas.

Following the size chart, I cut a size S merging to an M at the waist and hips. My most favourite part of this tee are the sleeves. My ideal sleeves, short and tight, which I had been hoping to get in a pattern for ages.

El patrón incluye instrucciones detalladas para rematar el cuello y los dobladillos con la aguja doble. Mi tela era un punto de viscosa muy fino y no hubo manera de evitar ese "efecto túnel". Aunque he usado esa aguja varias veces, me sigue poniendo nerviosa porque el resultado siempre es algo impredecible. El problema es simplemente la falta de práctica. Habrá que remediarlo ¿no?

The pattern includes detailed instructions to finish the neckline and hems with a double needle. My fabric was a very flimsy viscose jersey and I found it impossible to avoid this "tunnel effect". I've used this needle several times but the truth is that it still makes me nervous because the result is always somewhat unpredictable... I guess that there is only one solution for that: practice, practice, practice. And that I will do.

Y hasta aquí la entrada de hoy. Me voy a deshacer maletas y a preparar más entradas para el blog con el millón de fotos que sacamos estos días. Durante este viaje acabamos en un camping francés con ocupación 90% alemana. Yo toda emocionada pensando que iba a practicar el idioma jaja... pero claro, una que es así de tímida y antisocial evidentemente no pasó del Guten Tag y el Tschüss. Por lo menos pude practicar la comprensión oral escuchando conversaciones ajenas jajaja. Y también practiqué mi inexistente francés, el que no hablo más que con cuatro palabras, pero que me saca del apuro para lo básico, o sea camping, restaurante y tienda de telas jejeje.

And that was today's post. Time to go unpack my luggage and prepare the next posts with the million photos that we took these days. In this last trip we ended up in a French camping place occupied mostly by Germans. I was so excited at the chance to practice a bit of Deutsch, but then reality happened and the shy me did not dare past the guten Tag and Tschüss... At least I was able to practice my almost zero French. Like I only know a few words but they've taken me really far into getting through the basic survival, that being camping, restaurant and of course fabric store lol.

Sleek and modern + The Elise Tee

Hacía mucho tiempo que les tenía ganas a estos shorts, pero por el respeto que dan estas costuras lo iba posponiendo. Ahora que me he lanzado a coser pantalones, después de los Jedediah verdes de Ribi finalmente les llegó la hora a estos, patrón perfecto donde los haya.

Hello all! I have decided to start writing my blog in English too, enjoy!

This shorts pattern was in my to-do list for a very long time. I was a bit scared of sewing pants but I finally dared with the green Jedediah for my husband and since then I have been in a total pant sewing mood! 

Es el modelo Sleek and Modern de la Ottobre 2/2013, talla 38. Cosidos en esta preciosa tela plana de algodón con elastano que elegí como premio de Ottobre Design al ganar En marzo estreno conjuntazo. En realidad la pedí con otra prenda en mente, que también he cosido y a falta de fotos está. ¡Los shorts salieron de los retales sobrantes!

This is the Sleek and Modern model from the Ottobre Design 2/2013 magazine, size 38, sewn in some woven stretchy cotton that I got from the Ottobre Design shop after winning a contest back in march. The fabric was actually destined to another project, which came out pretty well and I will post soon after I get some photos. I managed to squeeze the shorts from the leftovers.

No puedo estar más contenta. Solo una advertencia: es un short muy pero que muy short. No me sentía muy cómoda el día que lo estrené, así que deshice el dobladillo y lo dejé al mínimo posible para poder alargar los pantalones unos 2 cm. Aunque solo sean un par de centímetros, la diferencia se nota y los llevo más a gusto.

I couldn't be happier with them, but a warning must follow: these are really short shorts. I did not feel quite comfortable the first day I wore them, so I unstitched the hem and redid it as minimal as possible, what gave me an extra 2 cm. Not a huge lenghtening, but it makes all the difference!

Estoy encantada con este patrón, me va clavado sin hacer ninguna otra modificación además del largo. Está disponible en tres versiones, short, pirata y largo, y no descarto hacerme uno largo también.

The pattern fits really well. Appart from the extra length, I didn't do any other modifications. It is available in three lenghts: shorts, capri and long, and I am already planning a long version for autumm.

¡Esos bolsillos con cremallera son la caña! ¿Se nota que estoy en fase pantalones?

La camiseta la he hecho con un patrón gratuito, The Elise Tee de Fine Motor Skills. Así anchota, desbocada, cómoda y súper chula. En negro, que va con todo.

The T-shirt is made from a free pattern called The Elise Tee from Fine Motor Skills. I love it like that, oversized, slouchy and super cool. And in black to match just anything.

Hoy tocan fotos de emergencia y sosas frente a la pared en un día gris. No será porque no hiciéramos la sesión de fotos chula durante la excursión del finde pasado. Pero salieron todas desenfocadas. Y con todas quiero decir TODAS, y todas significa más de 100 fotos, porque cuando Ribi se pone, se pone. Parece ser que uno de los objetivos de la cámara se ha estropeado.

We had taken really nice pictures at the mountain, just to get home and see they were all blurred. All of them! Something is wrong with the lens I think... So today these are emergency pictures taken on a hurry. I didn't want to delay the post!

Y hasta aquí la entrada de hoy, escrita a las 3 de la madrugada en pleno insomnio costuril. Estaba en la cama cosiendo mentalmente sin poder pegar ojo, así que harta de dar vueltas, me he levantado y por lo menos aprovecho el tiempo. Mañana tocará día zombie. ¡Feliz jueves a todas!

Baga

Le tenía muchas ganas a este patrón, la camiseta Baga  que Laino dainen gainetik generosamente compartió en su blog. Y finalmente le llegó su día. Decir que me encanta es poco. Van a venir más. Por lo menos quiero otra en negro.

Es una camiseta de tirantes con un cuello drapeado que sienta de maravilla, y el acabado con vistas queda genial. No tenía muy claro cómo hacerlas, pero gracias a este tutorial de Naii vi la luz.

Cómo el patrón es talla S, o sea pequeño para mi body, estuve pensando como ampliarlo a mi talla. Podría haberle añadido un par de cm a los lados, pero al final opté por usar el cuerpo del Lago Tank, que me gusta mucho cómo me queda, y así iba sobre seguro.

Lo he cosido en un punto de viscosa con bastante caída que compré en el Kilotela un día que estuvimos de paseo por Reus.

Me encanta ese cuello. He hecho una pequeña modificación al patrón delantero. En lugar de cortar la vista y el cuerpo por separado y luego unirlos, como la parte superior del patrón es recta, lo he cortado unido, es decir que la vista continua desde la parte superior del delantero, y después la he doblado hacia adentro. Me explico fatal pero espero que se entienda. Así se elimina la costura del escote.

Me pregunto si me gustaría más un pelín más escotada. Pero la verdad es que así es 100% segura y me puedo tumbar y agachar e inclinar sin riesgo alguno de enseñar más de la cuenta jeje.
