Strathcona Henley

It has been several weeks or even months since I made these shirts for my husband. It is about time to show you. It's the Strathcona Henley by Thread Theory.

I bought the pattern some time ago, on the search for the perfect T-shirt pattern. And these are very close to the perfection goal.

I love the neckline, and it is very easy to sew with the very clear instructions from the pattern. I love the indie patterns that come fully explained and illustrated, makes things so much easier and you learn while you sew.

I did actually sew three of them. A plain black shirt did not get photographed, but it is easy to imagine, right?

On the new Ottobre Family that was released a few weeks ago there is a pattern similar to this. I am curious to try it and see which one fits him better.

And as you can see, we took the pictures the same day than my SHO!odie, public toilet wall included lol.

FREE PATTERN - Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch

Let me start this post with the most important info: FREE PATTERN!
Did I catch your attention? Then read further ;-).

¿He captado tu atención? Pues sigue leyendo ;-).

The first pattern by Itch to Stitch that I tried was the Lago Tank, a freebie that Kennis released last summer. I was amazed by how well done the pattern and the instructions were and that certainly made me discover a great brand of sewing patterns. Now she has done it again and is offering a very nice Christmas treat to all of us sewists. I certainly enjoyed being part of this pattern test.

This is the Uvita Top, a relaxed, dropped-shoulder top that is designed for maximum comfort and style. It is a simple and flattering design that comes with both long and 3/4 sleeves. It is the kind of top that you will want to sew in every color and wear all the time.

I made the long sleeve version, size 6 graded to an 8 at the hips, and lenghtened body and sleeves 3 cm. For this purple one, I used a sweater knit and I love how it sits on my body. It is just the perfect relaxed fit.

Eventhough it is a relaxed top, it has some shape at the waist and that makes it even more flattering.

And because I liked it so much, I made a second one straight away. This time in a rayon jersey with quite some drape. I cut it exactly the same, but the fabric makes it look totally different. Because the rayon jersey is more heavy, the sleeves look way longer on this one. I think that I will have to shorten them a little bit. I like both versions, although my favourite is the purple one.

It is a very simple top to sew, instant gratification! I will for sure make some more. The 3/4 sleeves look really nice, and will have to try those in spring.

Haha... my face just makes me laugh while remembering how freezing cold I was during the photo session. What won't we do for our blogs?

My husband couldn't be happier when I told him that I was going to be in the tester team of a men's pattern. I am his official clothes maker, and new men's patterns don't happen that often as those for women. After seeing the women and kids version of this pattern, I knew it would be total success.

Let me introduce to you Sein NANUK, the newest pattern by Meine Herzenswelt.
It almost ended with a frozen husband... luckily I was able to bring him back to life after the photo shooting haha.

So, on to the amazing pattern. It is a hoodie with multiple options: hood or high neck, with or without zipper, lined or unlined, with two different pockets, with side panels or without.

I made a lined jacket with high neck and pockets on the side panel seams.

He wanted it very warm, putting the emphasis on "very" haha... so I used winter sweatshirt for the outside and fleece on the inside, even on the sleeves. The fabrics are of a very good quality. I bought them in Stoff Centrum, a German online shop with a very nice sortiment and reasonable prices.

I did lengthen the body 5 cm, because he wanted it long, and I just went the safe route. Once finished, I think that the 5 cm wouldn't have been necessary, so I will not lengthen when I make another one. My husband is 175 cm tall, and I made size M. He is normally an S, but I chose one size bigger to allow extra space for the fleece lining.

For the neck and side panels, I used a black stepper fabric remnant that I had laying around. It gives some detail to the jacket without changing the color or being too contrasted. He wanted it simple and serious.

The pattern also includes a chin protection piece, noone likes to feel a cold zipper on the skin right?
I also added an extra layer of fleece on the neck, that way it stands better, instead of falling down.
The zipper and cord are from Snaply, I was impressed by how precisely matched the color is! I had seen this type of cords in many blogs and finally could get my hands on some!

And once in Snaply, I couldn't resist to try this new type of cord ends. At least new to me, because I had never seen them before. It is a plastic tube that you cut to size with the scissors, put the cord inside, and then you apply heat to it with the hairdryer. The plastic shrinks until it gets the shape of the cord and holds it well in place. I hope it is going to last, because the look is really cool!

The pattern includes the option of kangaroo pockets and these ones on the side panel seam. I used the second ones and they look really great. Inspired by all the German ladies who do this very often, I added a fleece triangle at each end. It is a nice little detail.

The pattern has a great fit, and the instructions (in German) are very detailed and illustrated. It has been really easy to sew. Don't hesitate to grab yours, because it is totally worth it. You can buy it at Meine Herzenswelt. Don't miss your chance while the pattern is on release sale, at 30% less of the regular price! Also, they have the women's and kids version of the pattern, which are equally amazing! The pattern is also available at Makerist, but there without the discount.

Also, don't forget to take a look at the Lookbook of the pattern, with all the versions sewn by all the testers. Great inspiration source!

#LalaBag

You never have too many bags. That is what I kept repeating to myself while sewing this one.
When I saw the tester call, I fell in love with it and couldn't help joining in.
Let me introduce to you the first pdf pattern by Sewed Sins, the #LalaBag.

It is a roomy bag with all sorts of details and pockets, both inside and out, but the greatest thing is that it is convertible and can be worn in three different ways. Here you can see it as a backpack. And further down you will see it in other two ways.

To make this bag I recycled my most favourite pair of old jeans ever, those that I was reserving to make something especial. I used the pockets to add a little something to the front and the back.

The pattern is quite ellaborate, but the instructions in German are very clear and well illustrated. It is time consuming but totally worth the effort.

I did cheat a little bit. The pattern includes pattern pieces and instructions to make your own handles, but I used super soft cotton webbing instead.

Both the webbing and this cool rainbow continuous zipper are from The Sewing Cat.

Today is the release of the #LalaBag, if you like the pattern you can buy it here. The pattern will be on sale until next Wednesday 13th December. Do not forget to take a look, because the other testers and Saskia herself sewed really amazing bags!

Finally, if you have read up to here and if you would like to win one copy, head over to my Instagram where I am giving one away!

Today I'll show you my third Criss Cross SHO!odie by Einfach SHO!, this time in open version.Última entrega de Criss Cross SHO!odies de Einfach SHO!, esta vez en versión abierta.

The other two versions that I made, which I showed you here and here, were following the original pattern without changes, but this time I experimented a bit.

I used a warm fleece sweatshirt fabric, lenghtened the pattern quite a bit and added a closure at the side so that I can use it as a cardigan.

Again, this was the first test version of the pattern, and on the final one the fit is even better.

I love this pattern and will surely make more of them. If you like it too, you can buy it in German (here) and English (here).

And that's it for today. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Y hasta aquí mimimimiércoles de hoy. ¡A disfrutar del puente!

CrissCross SHO!odie #2

Today I am here to show you the second Criss Cross SHO!odie that I made while testing this pattern by Einfach SHO! I already showed you the first one in green here.

Because I made this during the testing process, this wasn't the end version of the pattern yet and fit isn't as good as in the green one. But I still love it so much in this fabric, a double face interlock jersey from Cal Joan.

The pattern goes from size 34 to 54. I made a size 38. As you can see, the front overlaps and is held together only at the hemband. Therefore it is quite open and you will need to wear something else underneath.

This PDF pattern is available in German (here) and English (here).

And now to the fun facts. I love how these photos came out. Sometimes you come accross the best background on the most unexpected places.... I am pretty sure that you would never guess this was the exterior wall of a public toilet hahaha.

So, keeping this short post today. I caught an awful cold and all I really want right now is to finish this and go back to bed. Happy Wednesday!

¡Feliz mimiércoles a tod@s!

SHO!MaxiRock

I had wanted to visit La Fageda d'en Jordà natural reserve for a long time. The last time that we walked into this magical beech forest was many many years ago. And then a short trip was planned and I immediately envisioned the photo shoot. Then life happened and I wasn't feeling very well that day, and my face looks awful on all the pictures, but oh well, just focus on the scenery, ok? And on my new clothes, of course! :)

Let me introduce to you the newest pattern by Einfach SHO! that has been released today. The SHO!MaxiRock, a maxi skirt designed for knit fabrics like jersey or even sweat, with a gathered front, a plain or gathered back, elastic waistband, decorative ties and of course, pockets.

The PDF pattern is available to print in A4 or A0, comes in sizes 32 - 54 and includes very detailed and illustrated instructions. You can see all the results from the pattern testing here.

I made mine out of ponte roma. It is stretchy and so comfortable. It obviously requires quite some yardage, but it is also really easy to sew. I made size 40.

Now I must confess that I have a very strange relationship with long skirts. I love them, but I don't wear them in public lol. The truth is that I would feel a bit selfconscious walking on the street like that. Not because of the skirt, but because of my own stupidity. But anyways, the thing is that I do love maxi skirts, so I made it, and I will wear it at home. And since I spend the biggest part of the day at home, it will get a lot of wear. Now that it is getting colder, I plan to wear it with leggings or pants underneath and it will be like walking around wrapped in a blanket, but in a totally cool and fashionable way.

I wish this place was at a walking distance from my home. I would just go there every single day for a peaceful walk.

Now let's move to the upper part of my outfit. Did you recognise the pattern? There you go my Toaster Sweater #1 by Sew House Seven, out of toasty thick winter sweat. I bought the pattern some time ago and it finally arrived its moment. I have to say that I really love it and will make another one for sure!

And so, by the magic of the flying leaves, I got a new and beautiful home outfit that is comfortable, warm and cat friendly. As much as I like dark colors, when you live with three cats you learn to match your clothes to their fur, otherwise you will look like a big mess after every cat on the lap session lol.

And that's it for today. Let me go prepare some tea while I remember the beautiful moments of our day in the forest. Have a nice day!
