Linea A-line Skirt

I love my new skirt. The colour doesn't show very well in the pics, but it is just dreamy. And it has pockets, and it is made of knit fabric, which makes it the comfiest thing ever.

¡Tengo falda nueva y me encanta! El color no se aprecia bien en las fotos, pero es precioso. Y tiene bolsillos, y es de punto. Más cómoda imposible.

This is the Linea A-Line Skirt, the new pattern by Wardrobe by Me that I had the pleasure to test. It includes different lengths, elastic waist, optional pockets, center seams (that you can also omit) and an option with a flouncy hem with a volant. I totally recommend that you go take a look at all the testers versions, because the different options and the fabric choices create such different looks!

Es la Linea A-Line Skirt, el nuevo patrón de Wardrobe by Me del que he sido tester. Incluye cinturilla elástica, varios largos, bolsillos opcionales, costuras centrales (que también se pueden omitir fácilmente) y otra opción con un volante para darle más vuelo. Os recomiendo que echéis un vistazo a las faldas que se han cosido las otras testers, porque según la versión del patrón y la tela elegida, parece una falda totalmente diferente.

I went with the shortest lenght with pockets. Made a size 42 in a beautiful double knit modal jersey from Meter Meter. The fabric wasn't cheap, but I just fell in love when I saw it and couldn't control the impulse. It has the perfect weight and, while it is quite drapey, it isn't as flimsy as a lightweight viscose jersey, which makes it ideal for this pattern.

Cosí la versión más corta con bolsillos en la talla 42. La tela es un punto de modal precioso de Meter Meter. Ha sido un capricho total porque no suelo comprar telas a ese precio, pero me enamoré en cuanto la vi y no pude controlar el impulso jeje. Tiene la caída perfecta y no es tan fina como un punto de viscosa normal, lo que la hace perfecta para este patrón.

I have paired it here with a black Wardrobe Builder Tee, also by WBM. And the fabric is also from Meter Meter, this is a cotton/modal blend that I absolutely love. Not as drapey as viscose jersey, but not as stiff as cotton jersey. I sometimes find viscose jersey too drapey and marking everything, so this is something in between and it is great! 

La he combinado con una camiseta Wardrobe Builder, también de WBM, en un punto negro de algodón/modal, que también es de Meter Meter y me ha encantado! Al combinar las dos fibras, no tiene tanta caída como un punto de viscosa, y tampoco es tan tiesa como un punto de algodón. Es un punto intermedio perfecto.

Note to myself: don't park the car at your photoshoot background! And another note to myself: sun right behind the head is weird.

Nota para la próxima: no aparcar el coche en el fondo de las fotos. Y segunda nota para la próxima: el sol directo detrás de la cabeza queda un poco raro jaja.

 Finally, I just feel like telling you something totally unrelated to this or to sewing. This week I donated blood. For the first time. The excuse was Game of Thrones #bleedforthethrone campaign. And well, I actually don't even like GOT, but we ended up at the blood bank. Everything went smoothly, and I am so happy that I did it. I am also wondering why the heck I had not done it before? It is such a good feeling to know that I might have helped to save a life (or three, as they told us). It will surely not be the last time. And now, let's do some happy jumping and enjoy our sewing and our spring!

Por último, me apetece contaros algo que no tiene nada que ver con la falda o con la costura. Esta semana fui a donar sangre por primera vez. La excusa fue la campaña #sangraporeltrono #sagnapeltron de Juego de Tronos, que ya ves, ni siquiera me gusta la serie (hasta el punto que Ribi tiene prohibido mirarla si estoy yo delante, porque de verdad que me pongo mala con todas esas escenas tan gore). Total, sea cual sea el motivo, terminé en el banco de sangre. Fue todo muy rápido y bien, y estoy super feliz de haberme atrevido. Salí de allí preguntándome por qué narices no lo había hecho nunca antes y con una satisfacción inmensa de pensar que puedo haber ayudado a salvar una vida (o tres, como nos dijeron). No será la última vez, eso seguro. Y ya está, ¡a disfrutar de la vida, de la costura y de la primavera!

Tropical Shirt

Two blog posts in one week, how crazy is that!
The new men's Tropical Shirt pattern by Wardrobe by Me is out and I had the pleasure to be part of the tester team. Both me and Ribi love the result. It is a short sleeved, relaxed fit Hawaiian/Cuban style shirt. The fact that it has no long sleeves with cuffs, and that this collar is more simple to sew, makes it so much easier and faster to make, which I of course love hehe.

Dos entradas en una misma semana, ¡qué locura!
Se va a notar que no he escrito el inglés y el español a la vez, porque no me apetece repetirme jeje.
Es viernes, estoy de buen humor y he encontrado un ratito para terminar la entrada. Además tenemos plan chulo para el finde y parece que va a hacer buen tiempo. Lástima que aún no haga calor como para que Ribi se ponga en manga corta y estrene la camisa de verdad, y no solo para las fotos. El pobre se me congeló un poco. Pero por mi y por WBM aquí se hace lo que haga falta jaja.

I made size M in a very lightweight cotton fabric from Merchant & Mills. It was love at first sight. Then I was hesitant during the process, doubting whether it would actually look good as a shirt. Finally, shirt was done. And it was love!

Como ya va siendo habitual, fui tester del último patrón de Wardrobe by Me que acaba de salir. La Tropical Shirt es la camisa perfecta para este verano y además se cose fácil, porque no tiene mangas largas con puños, y este cuello es más sencillo de coser que el de las camisas normales.

Then he arrived home, and tried it on while I was crossing all fingers hoping that it would fit. And it did! In such a perfect way!

Es una camisa informal y relajada, lleva un bolsillo en el delantero y unos cortes en los laterales del bajo. Por suerte le quedó clavadísima a la primera y tengo el visto bueno para coserle tantas como quiera. Hice la talla M, como de costumbre en WBM.

My husband was such a good sport. It was windy and he was freezing. That is what gave us the idea to wear a t-shirt underneath, just to freeze a little bit less.

Pues eso, el día de las fotos hacía una viento helado y lo tuve tiritando un rato. La tela es un algodón muy fino de Merchant & Mills. Y como era difícil encontrar botones a juego con ese verde, opté por unos metálicos.

And then it turns out that the shirt looks great like this too, open and showing the t-shirt and the Vulcan salutate lol.

Sí, somos un poco frikis por aquí. Que conste que yo no le pedí que se pusiera en plan vulcaniano, le sale natural jejeje. Lo que está claro es que la camisa también queda genial así abierta y con una camiseta debajo.

We first went to the forest for the photo session, but it was too much green on green. On our way I spotted this skater park and the grey background is great to make the shirt stand out.

Esta vez buscamos un fondo que no fuera verde, porque si no era demasiado verde sobre verde. Terminamos en una zona de skaters, y lo que suele pasar, que cuando empiezas a hacer fotos, también empieza a llegar gente. Suerte que no le importa demasiado.

I love the split hem. A little nice detail.

Volviendo a la camisa. Aquí los cortes laterales. Son un detalle chulo.

And on the back, it has two pleats to achieve the relaxed look.

Y en la espalda, dos pliegues.

Jalie 2679 Fleece Jacket

Me he cosido una chaqueta de polar y me encanta. Por fin pudimos hacer las fotos y aquí estoy de nuevo en MiMi para enseñarosla. No me voy a enrollar mucho, porque hoy llevo ya doce horas frente al ordenador y no me da la cabeza para mucho más.

I have made myself a new fleece jacket and I love it so much! After a few weeks, we finally took the pics, so here I am to show it to you all. It will be short today, because I have already spent 12 hours behind the computer and my brain is not functioning properly anymore.

El patrón es el Jalie 2679 Softshell Jacket. Sí, es un patrón para softshell, pero en polar funciona perfectamente bien. Hice dos modificaciones. La primera estrechar mangas porque se veían muy anchas. La segunda, alargar el patrón 4 cm. No me quise arriesgar a que quedara corta y alargué por si acaso. En realidad no hubiera sido necesario. En las mangas tuve que cortar los cm que había añadido. En el cuerpo lo veo bien así, pero un poco más corto tampoco habría pasado nada.

The pattern is the Jalie 2679 Softshell Jacket. The pattern is intended for softshell, but it works perfectly well with fleece too. The two changes that I made were narrow the sleeves that were too wide, and lengthen the pattern by 4 cm. This wouldn't have really been necessary, but I didn't want to risk it ending up too short. On the sleeves, I actually had to cut off the added cm. The body is ok, although I might not lenghten it that much on the next one.

La tela es de Extrem Textil y es super agradable al tacto. Las cremalleras, del color exacto que me imaginé y que no pensaba que encontraría, pero hubo suerte.

The fleece fabric is from Extrem Textil and it has a great touch and feel. It is also quite warm. And the zippers are a dream come true. This was the exact color that I imagined from the first moment and wasn't sure at all that I would be able to find it, but I did!

La pieza del cuello para tapar el extremo de la cremallera también la añadí, no viene en el patrón.

The little piece at the end of the zipper isn't part of the pattern, but I needed to add it because, well, it was absolutely necessary lol.

Disfruté de la costura y la estoy usando un montón. Tengo ya preparada una tela de softshell para hacerme otra. A ver si lo consigo antes de que llegue el calor y se me quiten las ganas. ¡Feliz miércoles!

I did enjoy the process and I am wearing it a lot. I already have a softshell fabric ready for the next one. I hope that I will manage before heat arrives. Happy Wednesday everybody!
