Aletheia

Un día pretendes ir a la playa pero los planes se tuercen y terminas en la montaña. Por suerte, Ribi y yo lo pasamos bien en cualquier sitio. Mura está muy cerca de casa, pero es un pueblo precioso, una visita totalmente recomendable. Se pueden hacer muchas excursiones a pie por los alrededores, y en Cal Carter se come genial. No es por hacer propaganda, pero es que simplemente nos encanta.

Sometimes you plan to go to the beach but end up on the mountain. Luckily that Ribi and I enjoy ourselves anywhere. Mura is a beautiful little village not far away from home. It is totally worth a visit to get lost in its ancient narrow streets, go on the different walking routes that start there, or just enjoy a delicious meal at Cal Carter. Not that I am advertising the place. We just love it.

Esta vez lo recorrimos de arriba a abajo, y nos metimos por todas sus callejuelas, descubrimos rincones preciosos que no habíamos visto antes. Pero claro, en las fotos solo salgo yo, conmigo misma y con mi nuevo jersey jaja.

This time we walked around the entire village and discovered beautiful places that we had not seen before. But of course, on the pictures you will only see me, myself, and my new sweatshirt lol.

Es el patrón Aletheia de Schnittgeflüster. Me enamoré de él en cuanto lo vi. Incluye muchas opciones con las que puedes acabar con sudaderas totalmente diferentes, pero a mí me llamaron la atención estas mangas abullonadas y tenía que probarlas sí o sí.

This is the Aletheia pattern by the German pattern designer Schnittgeflüster. I just loved this pattern when I saw it and had to make it mine. It includes so many options that you can achieve completely different looks with it, but I just needed to try these wide sleeves, those were the reason why I bought the pattern.

Me gusta el resultado, aunque quizás hubiera quedado mejor con una tela con más cuerpo. Esta es una tela con viscosa y bastante caída que compré en la tienda holandesa Megastoffen.

I love the result, although maybe it would have been nicer with a fabric with less drape. Anyway, I am very happy with it. The fabric is from a dutch shop: Megastoffen.

Opté por la versión corta, como es así anchote, queda bien con una camiseta ajustada debajo.

I chose the cropped length. It is a bit oversize and looks great with a fitted shirt underneath.

Me sentí un poco rara llevando esas mangas tan anchas, pero será la falta de costumbre porque, en realidad, viendo las fotos me encanta como queda.

It felt strange to wear this huge sleeves. But that must be just because it is new to me. Other than that, I look at the pictures and just like it so much. Something a bit different.

El patrón incluye opciones de capucha, volantes en mangas y cuerpo, y cortes en el delantero para pasar unos cordones. Los patrones de esta marca están siempre muy bien hechos y de hecho la semana que viene os voy a enseñar otro que estoy cosiendo en muy buena compañía!

The pattern includes options for a hood, flounce on the sleeve and hem, different lentghs, and even slits on the front to add a cord. The patterns by this brand are very well drafted and actually I will show you another one next week, and in very good company!

Blackwood Cardigan

The Blackwood Cardigan is love! I made the shorter version last year, you can see it here. And I had wanted to try the longer one since.

El Blackwood Cardigan me encanta. El año pasado me hice la versión corta, la podéis ver aquí, y desde entonces que quería hacerme la larga.

Lately I have seen really nice Blackwood Cardigans made by other ladies. After seeing the ones by Maquinando Patrones, I thought "the time is now". I had the fabric and the pattern, so ready, go!

Últimamente se han visto versiones muy chulas en MiMi, y cuando vi las últimas de la mano de Maquinando Patrones pensé "ahora sí que sí". Tenía la tela y el patrón. Pues a por ello.

We took the photos in Girona, by the way. My most favourite city, you have to visit if you ever come to Catalonia! I had more urban pictures in mind. But you know, saturday afternoon. The place was crowded. So we searched for a more quiet place. The Devesa forest is at walking distance from the city center, and such a special beautiful place.

Otra vez, sesión de fotos en el Parque de la Devesa de Girona. Me encanta esta ciudad. Me había imaginado fotos más urbanas... Pero a quien se le ocurre eso un sábado por la tarde en una ciudad de lo más animada. Estaban las calles abarrotadas de gente, así que buscamos un lugar más tranquilo y terminamos en la Devesa otra vez. No es la primera vez que hacemos fotos aquí jeje.

But let's go back to the cardigan, right? I so love this pattern by Helen's Closet. And I love Helen too, total fan of their Love to Sew podcast. I always listen to it while sewing. It is so great to listen to the personal stories of our favourite sewist and designers.

Pero volvamos al cardigan. Me encanta este patrón de Helen's Closet. Y me encanta Helen también. Soy fan total del Love to Sew podcast y siempre lo escucho mientras coso. Aunque ahora podemos disfrutar también de un podcast en español, el de Diario de Naii. Es genial escuchar historias personales de nuestras costureras/diseñadoras/tiendas favoritas.

For the cardigan I used a cozy rib fabric from The Sweet Mercerie. It has a wonderful touch and feel. I made a turtleneck top with it some weeks ago, which you can see here, and luckily I had enough fabric left to make the cardigan.

Para el cardigan, he usado una tela de canale calentita de The Sweet Mercerie. Tiene un tacto super amoroso. Hace unas semanas me hice un jersey de cuello alto con esta misma tela (podéis verlo aquí). Por suerte sobró bastante y pude hacer caber todas las piezas del cardigan.

I made size M and it fits me perfect with no changes at all. I really love the open look of it. Well... it is a bit of a contradiction because, while I really love it, I am also a quite practical person, and when I feel cold I want to cover myself completely instead of leaving an open front for the chill to get in. But the pattern is designed that way, and that is actually what makes it special and so cool and so flattering, and I am totally ready to suffer if it gets cold because it is totally worth it lol.

Hice la talla M y me va perfecta. Me encanta ese look abierto, pero también tengo ciertos sentimientos encontrados, porque aunque realmente me encanta, me gusta ir a lo práctico, y soy muy friolera, y cuando tengo frío me quiero tapar entera y no dejar todo el delantero abierto para que se cuele el aire fresco. Pero el patrón está diseñado así y es lo que lo hace especial y tan chulo y tan favorecedor, así que estoy totalmente dispuesta a sufrir para presumir jaja. En teoría llega pronto la primavera así que no debería ser muy grave... y digo en teoría porque parece que este año el invierno no se quiere ir.

The pattern is very easy to sew and I was able to finish in a couple of hours. It is so satisfying to be able to create something that nice in the blink of an eye.

El patrón es muy fácil de coser y lo pude terminar en un par de horas. ¿No es genial poder crear algo tan chulo en un abrir y cerrar de ojos?

The pockets where the trickiest part, because of the fabric, that strechted a lot and refused to stay in place... they are a bit wonky, but I still like them so much. And I also love the long sleeves. I have said that many times, but after a whole life of never finding a sleeve long enough for my arms in RTW, it is so satisfying to have them always extra long now. 

Los bolsillos fueron la parte más complicada, debido a la tela, que se estiraba de mala manera... Ha quedado así así, pero igualmente me gustan mucho. Y me encantan esas mangas extra largas. Lo habré dicho ya muchas veces, pero después de toda una vida comprando ropa hecha con las mangas siempre demasiado cortas, me hace tan feliz poder llevar ahora las mangas tan largas como me apetezca...

To avoid the pockets to stretch even more and create waves, I placed a tissue paper underneath when sewing them to the front of the cardigan. This worked really well, but then I teared the paper and this happened:

Para evitar que los bolsillos dieran de sí aún más y me quedara la costura toda ondulada, puse un pañuelo de papel debajo al coserlos al delantero del cardigan. Funcionó de maravilla, pero después al arrancar el papel pasó esto:

Lol... Will that go away when washing? Or should I spend long hours to remove it before, to avoid a bigger mess?

Jaja... ¿Los restos esos se irán al lavar? ¿O mejor tendría que entretenerme a quitarlo todo para evitar un mal mayor?

Under the cardigan I am wearing the Perfect Tunic that I showed you a couple days ago here. Without doing it on purpose I've created a perfect complete look, because I love how they look together. haha... and here you can see the tunic in all its wrinkled glory after a day of use. Keeping it real!

Debajo del cardigan llevo la Perfect Tunic que os enseñé en más detalle hace un par de días aquí. Sin buscarlo a posta me he creado un look completo que me encanta. Aquí, la túnica, con todas sus arrugas después de un día de uso jaja. No era plan de llevarme la plancha al bosque :-D.

The Perfect Tunic III

If there is a second, there must be a third! Here my last Perfect Tunic by Wardrobe by Me. You can see the two previous ones here and here.

Y como no hay dos sin tres, aquí mi última Perfect Tunic de Wardrobe by Me. Podéis ver las anteriores aquí y aquí.

This time I made view B adding the button tabs from view A to roll up the sleeves.

Esta vez hice la versión B añadiendo la presilla para recoger las mangas. (Y tengo que agradecer a La Costurera Entrometida que ya no sea una "tira de tela" jaja).

This one was made with the final version of the pattern, I hope you can see that the placket and collar sit much better.

Esta la hice ya con la versión final del patrón, el cuello queda mucho mejor que en las anteriores.

The cuff is also the final one, with only one pleat and rounded edges. This time I buttonholed lol.

And yes, there is an odd seam at the bottom of the front... Stupid cutting error that literally brought me to tears! Thankfully I could fix it somehow and is not too noticeable.

El puño aquí también es el final, con solo un pliegue y las esquinas redondeadas. Esta vez sí hice los ojales jeje.

¿Y veis el fallo que cometí? Esa costura en la parte inferior del delantero... error estúpido de corte. Pero de los estúpidos de verdad. ¡Hasta me puse a llorar! Menos mal que pude hacer un apaño y no se nota demasiado.

Át the back, I love that central pleat. And the length, and the ease. It is just perfect. On the previous one I combined two fabrics, but all in the same fabric it also looks great.

Me encanta ese pliegue central de la parte trasera. Y el largo, y el ancho, simplemente perfecto. En la anterior combiné dos telas, pero así solo con una también queda genial.

With the button tabs, I can roll up the sleeves to get a more casual look.

Con las presillas en las mangas enrolladas se consigue un estilo más informal.

I used a rayon fabric by Atelier Brunette. Best quality, amazing designs, not cheap at all. But it was my birthday present to myself, a little special treat doesn't hurt from time to time, right? I really love the fabrics by this brand, so much so that I even kept the brand name on the inside of one cuff. I ♥ Atelier Brunette!

Utilicé una viscosa de Atelier Brunette, mi autoregalo de cumpleaños que compré en Nunoya hacer un par de semanas. Soy fan total de las telas de esta marca, tanto los diseños como la calidad son espectaculares. Y los precios también, juas juas. ¡Pero una vez al año no hace daño! Mirad si me encanta Atelier Brunette que incluso me dejé el nombre en el interior de uno de los puños.

The Perfect Tunic II

The other day I showed you my first Perfect Tunic, you can see it here if you missed it. Once it was finished, I loved it so much that I had to start with the second one straight away.

El otro día os enseñé mi primera Perfect Tunic, aquí si os la perdisteis. Me gustó tanto que inmediatamente después de terminarla empecé la segunda.

It is so great when a pattern includes different options, and I wanted to try them all, so this time I made View B, with shirt curved length, cuffed sleeves and back yoke and central pleat. The pattern description says that it also works with jersey and I wanted to give it a try.

¿No es genial cuando los patrones incluyen varias opciones? Está claro que quería probarlas todas, así que esta vez hice la opción B, más corta y curvada por abajo, con puños de camisa en las mangas y canesú y pliegue central en la espalda. En la descripción del patrón pone que se puede hacer en tela de punto, así que me lancé a probarlo.

Let me tell you: jersey works great! Specially if it has some drape. Mine is some kind of velvety feel rayon jersey that I bought in Stocks Textiles in Barcelona. I combined it with black rayon woven fabric for the cuffs, placket, collar and yoke. 

Pues os puedo confirmar que en tela de punto queda genial. Sobre todo si tiene caída. Utilicé un punto de viscosa (creo), de tacto algo aterciopelado, que compré en Stocks Textiles, y la combiné con tela plana de viscosa negra en los puños, cuello y canesú.

I love this back so much, with the yoke and center pleat. I closed the cuffs with snaps instead of buttons. Because I had the perfect matching color and liked the look of it, and because I was lazy to buttonhole. Don't really know which of the reasons came first lol. 

Me encanta la espalda con el canesú y el pliegue central. Cerré los puños de las mangas con snaps en lugar de botones. ¿Por qué? Pues porque los tenía del color perfecto y quedaban muy bien, y porque me daba pereza hacer los ojales jaja... No tengo muy claro cuál de las dos razones vino primero.

Like I said on my last post, this is still a tester version. On the final pattern, the placket, collar and cuffs have been slightly modified, so that it doesn't change the overall look but the fit is even better.
I made size 38 / 8, no changes. Body and sleeves length are just perfect for me.

Como dije en mi última entrada, esta sigue siendo la versión tester. El patrón final cuenta con algunas modificaciones en el cuello y los puños que, sin modificar el aspecto de la blusa, hacen que quede aún mejor.
Cosí la talla 38, sin ninguna modificación. El largo de cuerpo y mangas me va perfecto.

Yesterday I was wearing it on our afternoon in Barcelona... I so wanted to show it to the world and I was so pissed that it wasn't warm enough to take off the cardigan and jacket that I was wearing on top lol. We had a drink and cake in Flax & Kale H&M. So great to have a place with healthy food options (if super yummy cupcakes can be healthy at all lol), but so funny that it is inside a clothing store... I entered there with the bag of fabrics that I had bought earlier, and it was like "what am I doing in a clothes store carrying fabrics to sew my own and looking for cake?". 

Ayer me la puse para pasar la tarde en Barcelona... Tenía ganas de enseñarla a todo el mundo y me dio rabia que aún hiciera frío y no poder quitarme el jersey y la chaqueta que llevaba encima. A ver si llega ya el buen tiempo. Tomamos algo en Flax & Kale H&M, es genial tener opciones más saludables... (si es que un cupcake delicioso de la muerte se puede considerar saludable jajaja). Lo curioso de la situación es que la cafeteria está dentro del H&M, y ya me veis a mí entrando en una tienda de ropa a buscar pasteles y cargando la bolsa de telas que acababa de comprarme para coserme yo la mía. Un poco surrealista jaja.

The Perfect Tunic

What to expect from a pattern called "The Perfect Tunic"? Such a name puts the expectations a bit high, but let me tell you that the pattern really lives up to them. This is the new pattern that Wardrobe by Me just released and that you don't want to miss. I am telling you: you really do not want to miss this one, because it is.... perfect!

¿Qué esperas de un patrón que se llama "The Perfect Tunic"? Un nombre así pone las expectativas un poco altas, pero es que el nuevo patrón de Wardrobe by Me no solo las alcanza, sino que las supera. Si es que se puede superar la perfección, que no se si será posible, pero lo que sí tengo claro es que a mi me encanta y por eso quiero compartirlo con tod@s vosotr@s.

I had the chance to be a tester and the pattern is so lovely that I've already made three so far.
I will show them all to you, but today I want to start with this one because I am so excited that I made it to the cover! And here you can also see the drawing of the different options.

De nuevo, tuve la oportunidad de ser tester y me ha gustado tanto que ya me he cosido tres. Claro está que os las voy a enseñar todas, pero hoy quiero empezar por esta ¡porque me hace mucha ilusión salir en la portada! De paso, aquí podéis ver los dibujos de las distintas opciones.



The Perfect Tunic pattern includes two different versions. The one I show you here today is View A, with tunic length, straight hem and straight sleeves that can be rolled up with a button tab. View B is a blouse style and features a yoke with back pleat, cuffed sleeve and curved shirt length. Both have a front placket and mandarin collar. On Wardrobe by Me website and the Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support group in Facebook you can see many pictures of all the testers for inspiration!

The Perfect Tunic incluye dos versiones distintas. La que os muestro hoy es la vista A, con largo túnica y dobladillo recto, con mangas rectas que se enrollan y recogen con una tira de tela (que seguro que tiene un nombre menos cutre que "tira de tela") y un botón. La vista B es más estilo blusa, con canesú y un pliegue central en la espalda, mangas con puños de camisa y con el largo más corto y curvado. En la página de Wardrobe by Me y en el grupo de Facebook Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support podéis ver muchas fotos de todas las testers para haceros una idea de todas las posibilidades.

This was my first version of this pattern. Some minor changes have been made since, specially on the placket and collar, to improve the fit even more. I used a lightweight cotton fabric with embroidery that I bought many years ago and was sitting on my stash forever waiting for the perfect pattern. And I think that it is a wonderful match! I could live the whole spring in this beautiful comfy bohemian style. Spring please come soon!

Esta fue mi primera versión. Desde entonces se hicieron algunos retoques en el patrón para mejorarlo aún más, pero sin que cambie el aspecto final de este. Escogí una tela fina de algodón con flores bordadas que llevaba siglos en el armario esperando el patrón perfecto, y creo que combinan genial. Podría pasarme toda la primavera dentro de esta túnica tan cómoda. Por favor, primavera llega pronto que llevo meses esperándote.

The pattern is designed for woven, but it is also possible to make it in jersey with woven placket and collar. It is amazing what for a different look you can achieve just depending on the fabric choice. Can you imagine it in jersey? in a flowy viscose? or even in flanel? Well, I can! And I feel like I need one of each!

El patrón está diseñado para tela plana, pero también se puede hacer con tela de punto en cuerpo y mangas y tela plana en el cuello. Es alucinante cómo cambia el resultado según la tela elegida. ¿Os la imagináis con una tela de punto? ¿O con una viscosa fluida y con caída? ¿O incluso de franela? Yo desde luego sí, y creo que voy a necesitar una de cada.

Here a close up of the sleeves with the tabs. This embroidered fabric was quite a pain to sew, everything went wonky everytime the needle would catch the bulk of the little flowers. I had to do it very slowly and paying a lot of attention. For the tabs and placket, I used the border of the fabric that was plain without embroidery, that way it gives a little contrast while still being completely integrated.

Aquí las mangas de cerca. Esta tela bordada me hizo sudar un buen rato. Cada vez que la aguja pillaba todo el bulto de las flores bordadas se me torcía la costura, así que tuve que coser con cuidado y prestando mucha atención... Para el cuello y las tiras de las mangas usé el borde de la misma tela que no tenía bordado, me gusta mucho como ha quedado.

I find this tunic very flattering, with just the right amount of ease and the perfect length. Like this I can wear it with jeans without feeling too long and with leggings without feeling too short. And even with shorts I guess! Well, Wardrobe by Me patterns are designed for my exact height of 172 cm, and although it is easy to lenghten or shorten things, if it comes right for my height it just feels made to measure and makes me totally confident about the fit that I will get.

Creo que es muy favorecedora, no es demasiado ancha y la longitud es perfecta. Me la puedo poner con tejanos sin vérmela demasiado larga, o con leggings sin ser demasiado corta. E incluso con shorts quedaría genial. Si una ventaja tienen los patrones de Wardrobe by Me para mi, es que están diseñados para mi estatura exacta de 172 cm. Y aunque sea fácil acortar o alargar las cosas, si te viene hecho a tu medida no se puede pedir más y tengo ya la seguridad desde el principio de que me va a quedar bien.

So yes, I just love it. so much. And can't wait to show you the other two in the coming days. Stay tuned!

Mysig

Me he cosido otra sudadera chula y cómoda, ideal para mi día a día de trabajar desde casa. 

Es el nuevo patrón Mysig de Kommatia Patterns, del cual he sido tester.

I've made myself a nice and comfy hoodie, perfect to wear during my days working from home.

It is the Mysig pattern by Kommatia Patterns, for which I was a tester.

Últimamente, para estar por casa he ido aprovechando ropa vieja, que ya no me gusta, que se ha manchado... lo típico, que no te lo pondrías para salir a la calle pero, como en casa nadie te ve, se aprovecha todo. Pero claro, cuando no sales en todo el día eso acaba siendo algo deprimente. Así que de vez en cuando toca hacer costuras molonas para llevar en casa y que a la vez no me de vergüenza salir a comprar el pan o abrirle la puerta a los transportistas.

Lately I have been using old ugly clothes to wear at home. You know, the things you won't wear outside anymore, but because at home noone sees you, you continue wearing things that you should have burnt long ago. Well.. when you are home all day long everyday like me, it gets a bit depressing to only wear ugly stuff, so now and then I sew myself something nice and new to wear inside, so that I feel well in it and can also go out to run errands without needing to change or I won't feel embarrassed to open the door to the delivery guy!

Y aquí la sudadera!! Larga y calentita, y color que camufle bien los pelos de los gatos jaja. ¡Eso es muy importante!

And this time it has been a long hoodie! Cozy and warm, in a color that won't show cat fur too much, which is really important here lol.

El patrón me encanta, más amplio en la parte de arriba, y llega hasta por debajo de las caderas, con capucha y un gran bolsillo delante. Se cose fácil y rápido.

I love the pattern. It is wider on the top, and goes below the hips. It includes a hood and big kangaroo pocket. Just perfect and such a quick easy sew.

He usado sudadera de invierno bien afelpada por dentro. Aquí la llevo con vaqueros, pero con unos leggings queda también genial.

I used sweatshirt fleece and it is keeping me really warm. Here I wear it with jeans, but it would look great with leggings too.

Meine Helma

Hoy llego derrapando a MiMi para enseñaros mi Meine Helma, el nuevo patrón de Meine Herzenswelt del cual he sido tester.  

Today I am here to show you my Meine Helma, the new pattern by Meine Herzenswelt that I had the chance to test.

Meine Helma es un vestido de punto con tres largos de mangas y la opción de hacerlo entero de una pieza o dividido en dos, con o sin pasacordón en la cintura y con bolsillos opcionales. Yo he optado por la versión más sencilla, parece que sigo en modo "menos es más".

It is a jersey or sweat dress with three different sleeve lentghs and different options to make it all in one piece, or add a tunel for a cord and/or pockets. I continue in "less is more" mode, so just did the most simple version possible and I love it.

La tela que he usado es una sudadera de verano muy finita de The Sweet Mercerie que, por lo que parece, se resiste al planchado, porque si os digo que planché justo antes de las fotos...

I used a very lightweight french terry fabric from The Sweet Mercerie, and I promise that I pressed it before taking the pictures. What happened??!!

Como cinturón, un cordón que, si no recuerdo mal, compré hace tiempo en Hilos y más. Es un poco tieso pero me gusta.

As a belt, I took a cord that I had lying around from Hilos y más.

La costura de la espalda hace que el vestido quede más entallado y la apertura de arriba le da un toque muy chulo.

The seam at the center back gives a nice shape to the dress, and the slit on the top is a very nice detail.

Me gusta más con cinturón, pero sin tampoco queda mal.
Y nada, patrón chulo como todos los de Meine Herzenswelt, que además aún sigue con el precio rebajado por la oferta de lanzamiento. ¡Echadle un vistazo al Lookbook para ver todas las opciones chulas que trae!

I also tried it on without any belt, but I think that I like it more with the belt, otherwise it is a little too simple. But again, that's the perfect base for different combinations!
