The Perfect Tunic

What to expect from a pattern called "The Perfect Tunic"? Such a name puts the expectations a bit high, but let me tell you that the pattern really lives up to them. This is the new pattern that Wardrobe by Me just released and that you don't want to miss. I am telling you: you really do not want to miss this one, because it is.... perfect!

¿Qué esperas de un patrón que se llama "The Perfect Tunic"? Un nombre así pone las expectativas un poco altas, pero es que el nuevo patrón de Wardrobe by Me no solo las alcanza, sino que las supera. Si es que se puede superar la perfección, que no se si será posible, pero lo que sí tengo claro es que a mi me encanta y por eso quiero compartirlo con tod@s vosotr@s.

I had the chance to be a tester and the pattern is so lovely that I've already made three so far.
I will show them all to you, but today I want to start with this one because I am so excited that I made it to the cover! And here you can also see the drawing of the different options.

De nuevo, tuve la oportunidad de ser tester y me ha gustado tanto que ya me he cosido tres. Claro está que os las voy a enseñar todas, pero hoy quiero empezar por esta ¡porque me hace mucha ilusión salir en la portada! De paso, aquí podéis ver los dibujos de las distintas opciones.



The Perfect Tunic pattern includes two different versions. The one I show you here today is View A, with tunic length, straight hem and straight sleeves that can be rolled up with a button tab. View B is a blouse style and features a yoke with back pleat, cuffed sleeve and curved shirt length. Both have a front placket and mandarin collar. On Wardrobe by Me website and the Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support group in Facebook you can see many pictures of all the testers for inspiration!

The Perfect Tunic incluye dos versiones distintas. La que os muestro hoy es la vista A, con largo túnica y dobladillo recto, con mangas rectas que se enrollan y recogen con una tira de tela (que seguro que tiene un nombre menos cutre que "tira de tela") y un botón. La vista B es más estilo blusa, con canesú y un pliegue central en la espalda, mangas con puños de camisa y con el largo más corto y curvado. En la página de Wardrobe by Me y en el grupo de Facebook Wardrobe by Me Pattern Support podéis ver muchas fotos de todas las testers para haceros una idea de todas las posibilidades.

This was my first version of this pattern. Some minor changes have been made since, specially on the placket and collar, to improve the fit even more. I used a lightweight cotton fabric with embroidery that I bought many years ago and was sitting on my stash forever waiting for the perfect pattern. And I think that it is a wonderful match! I could live the whole spring in this beautiful comfy bohemian style. Spring please come soon!

Esta fue mi primera versión. Desde entonces se hicieron algunos retoques en el patrón para mejorarlo aún más, pero sin que cambie el aspecto final de este. Escogí una tela fina de algodón con flores bordadas que llevaba siglos en el armario esperando el patrón perfecto, y creo que combinan genial. Podría pasarme toda la primavera dentro de esta túnica tan cómoda. Por favor, primavera llega pronto que llevo meses esperándote.

The pattern is designed for woven, but it is also possible to make it in jersey with woven placket and collar. It is amazing what for a different look you can achieve just depending on the fabric choice. Can you imagine it in jersey? in a flowy viscose? or even in flanel? Well, I can! And I feel like I need one of each!

El patrón está diseñado para tela plana, pero también se puede hacer con tela de punto en cuerpo y mangas y tela plana en el cuello. Es alucinante cómo cambia el resultado según la tela elegida. ¿Os la imagináis con una tela de punto? ¿O con una viscosa fluida y con caída? ¿O incluso de franela? Yo desde luego sí, y creo que voy a necesitar una de cada.

Here a close up of the sleeves with the tabs. This embroidered fabric was quite a pain to sew, everything went wonky everytime the needle would catch the bulk of the little flowers. I had to do it very slowly and paying a lot of attention. For the tabs and placket, I used the border of the fabric that was plain without embroidery, that way it gives a little contrast while still being completely integrated.

Aquí las mangas de cerca. Esta tela bordada me hizo sudar un buen rato. Cada vez que la aguja pillaba todo el bulto de las flores bordadas se me torcía la costura, así que tuve que coser con cuidado y prestando mucha atención... Para el cuello y las tiras de las mangas usé el borde de la misma tela que no tenía bordado, me gusta mucho como ha quedado.

I find this tunic very flattering, with just the right amount of ease and the perfect length. Like this I can wear it with jeans without feeling too long and with leggings without feeling too short. And even with shorts I guess! Well, Wardrobe by Me patterns are designed for my exact height of 172 cm, and although it is easy to lenghten or shorten things, if it comes right for my height it just feels made to measure and makes me totally confident about the fit that I will get.

Creo que es muy favorecedora, no es demasiado ancha y la longitud es perfecta. Me la puedo poner con tejanos sin vérmela demasiado larga, o con leggings sin ser demasiado corta. E incluso con shorts quedaría genial. Si una ventaja tienen los patrones de Wardrobe by Me para mi, es que están diseñados para mi estatura exacta de 172 cm. Y aunque sea fácil acortar o alargar las cosas, si te viene hecho a tu medida no se puede pedir más y tengo ya la seguridad desde el principio de que me va a quedar bien.

Aurora Tunic Blouse by Wardrobe by Me

Today I am here to show you my Aurora blouse by Wardrobe by Me. This new pattern was just released this week and I totally love it's delicate, feminine look. It is very flattering and something you feel special in while wearing it. You know, because the girl here wears jersey tops most of the days... It was about time to get a dressier option in my closet.

Hoy os traigo mi blusa Aurora. Es el nuevo patrón de Wardrobe by Me que justo ha salido a la venta esta semana. ¿Y qué puedo decir? Pues que me encanta su aire delicado y femenino. Es un patrón muy favorecedor y llevarla me hace sentir especial. Supongo que será porque aquí una va siempre por la vida con camisetas y sudaderas... Ya era hora de añadir algo más elegante al armario.

I truly enjoyed being part of the tester group and I actually learnt quite a lot, because this type of garments with collars and ties and plackets falls a bit out of my comfort zone. The truth is that it was quite easy to sew. The very detailed and illustrated instructions are really helpful.

Pude formar parte del grupo de testers y ha sido una experiencia muy bonita. Además también he aprendido nuevas cosas, ya que los cuellos y lazos se salen un poco de mi zona de confort. Aún así, no es un patrón difícil y se cose sin problemas con las instrucciones en inglés tan detalladas.

The pattern includes many different options. I chose the blouse curved length with long sleeves and collar tie. The fabric is a soft viscose woven that I bought in Stocks Téxtiles, in Barcelona.

El patrón incluye varias opciones. Yo opté por la blusa con bajo curvado, manga larga y lazo. La tela es una viscosa muy suave de Stocks Téxtiles.

Here you can see the different looks that you can get with the pattern. As a dress or tunic, with short or long sleeves, with a stand-up collar instead of the tie. I am actually planning to make another blouse with the stand-up collar.

Aquí se ven las distintas opciones del patrón. Como vestido o túnica, manga larga o corta, con o sin lazo. Tengo pensado hacerme otra sin el lazo, quizás en negro liso, seguro que queda con un aire muy diferente.

Well, the photographer didn't warn me that the tie was looking wonky... But I still love the delicate look of it. The colors of the fabric feel so autummal. Not so the temperatures that we are still having. But hey, I will not complain about not feeling cold yet.

Ejem, el Sr. Fotógrafo no me avisó de que tenía el lazo torcido, pero me sigue encantando este look tan femenino. Y los colores del estampado me hacen sentir el otoño. Que se sienta de alguna manera, ¿no? Si no es por las temperaturas, pues que sea por la tela jaja. A ver, que tampoco me voy a quejar de que no haga frío aún.

The sleeve is ended with an elastic. I would maybe add 1 or 2 cm to the length next time. But I do have long arms and am obsessed with extra long sleeves, so no wonder.

La manga se termina con una goma elástica. Quizás le añadiría 1 o 2 cm de largo la próxima vez. Pero tengo brazos largos y una preocupante obsesión por las mangas extra largas, así que era de esperar.

The only change that I did was lengthen the body by a couple cm, because I preferred it a bit longer. The rest is the original pattern. It fits perfectly. And not only on me, but also on all the other testers. It has just the right proportions everywhere and it is very comfortable to wear.

El único cambio que hice al patrón fue añadirle un par de cm de largo al cuerpo. Por lo demás es el patrón original tal cual. Queda genial, y no lo digo solo por mí. Se puede ver también en las fotos de las demás testers que es super favorecedor. Tiene las proporciones adecuadas y es muy cómodo de llevar.

We had quite of the fun photo session... It is hard to keep eyes open facing the sunset. And I lost my sunglasses, so that wasn't an option lol... Hope I don't find them too, because I desperately want new ones.

Digamos que la sesión de fotos fue de lo más divertida, de esas de reír por no llorar... porque no es nada fácil abrir los ojos con ese sol del atardecer en toda la cara. Y he perdido mis gafas de sol, así que no era una opción. Y la verdad es que me alegro de haberlas perdido, porque hace tiempo que quería unas de nuevas jeje.

And it is hard to walk on the field with heels and a twisted ankle still unhealed. And it is even harder to accept that every time that I twist it, it is in the most stupid way. Twisting your ankle while standing still in the bathroom. I cannot explain it. But it happened.

Tampoco es nada fácil pasear por el campo con tacones y un tobillo torcido. Y menos fácil aún aceptar que siempre me lo tuerzo de la forma más estúpida. Porque torcerse el tobillo mientras estás quieta de pie en el cuarto de baño, pues es muy triste e inexplicable. Pero sucedió.

And the wind... that can play so in your favor or against you. The wind that made us take a thousand pictures and discard most of them. Well, let's just embrace it and have fun with it.

Y por último el viento... ese que puede jugar tan a favor o tan en contra. Ese por el que tuvimos que hacer mil fotos y borrar la mayoría. En fin, mejor aceptarlo y divertirse un rato.

Blusa Donna

Tenía este patrón ya calcado y cortado desde hace un par de meses, pero por un motivo u otro se quedó pendiente y ya estaba pensando de dejarlo para el año que viene cuando Coser Cosas y What Aran Loves anunciaron el cose conmigo. Ese fue el empujoncito que me faltaba para ir a por ella.

Se trata de la blusa Donna, de La Maison Victor mayo/junio 2016.

Ya he entendido que esta revista talla grande, según la tabla de medidas me tocaba la 42, pero corté directamente una 40. Y creo que incluso quedaría mejor si hubiera hecho la 38, porque aún me va bastante ancha. También alargué la blusa 2 cm, porque la veía un pelín corta para mi.

Aparte de eso, la blusa es muy chula y muy fresquita por la viscosa. Estoy pensando en hacerme otra en negro. No sé en qué estaría pensando al comprar esta tela. Aunque es bonita, a mi el rosa no me va mucho.

La parte más complicada fueron las mangas, y los ojales que siempre me dan pánico porque casi no hago nunca jaja... pero en realidad no es para tanto, solo necesito hacer un par de pruebas en un retal antes para quitarme el susto :-P.

Perdonad la tela tan arrugada. Juro que la planché antes de salir de casa. :-P

Y ya está, una blusa muy cómoda incluso para pasear por pueblos en ruinas en medio del bosque. Lástima que Ribi no sacó foto de cuando perdí el equilibrio y me caí de culo sobre un arbusto de los que pinchan jaja... Por suerte no me desgarré la ropa. Pero el moratón de recuerdo en el trasero sí que lo voy a llevar días jajaja.
