Cómo ya vengo anunciando desde hace unos días, hoy vengo a mostraros algo muy alucinante.
So, it turns out that I am taking part in the amazing Chris W Designs Global Blog Tour and to be honest, I don't even really know how I got there. There was a call on Facebook and that's all that I can remember. Next I know is me sewing the most elaborate Full Moon ever. Not that I had actually sewn a moon before. But there must be a first time for everything, right? Sewing the moon people! Is that amazing or not?

Hubo un anuncio en Facebook y lo siguiente que recuerdo es estar cosiendo una luna llena de lo más elaborada. ¡He cosido la luna! ¡No me diréis que no suena tentador!
Ok, I might have gotten overly excited about the name of this pattern, The Lunar Collection, but isn't it just beautiful? I have to tell you many things today, and I hope that I won't forget anything, but just let me note here quickly that this is a huge party and there is going to be giveaways, discounts and prizes (yes, in plural!). Chris W Designs is an Australian brand of pdf sewing patterns for all kind of bags. Behind it, Christine Welsh, the most hilarious woman. If you need proof of that, please go check this video.
In her online shop, you can find many bag sewing patterns of different sewing levels and styles. I was provided the pattern for free and was allowed to choose which one I wanted to make for the blog tour and I went for the Lunar Collection. The reason why I chose that one might very well be the cute kitten that appears in the pictures, or the fact that it includes three sizes, or the lovely lunar name, or most probably all of that together with the fact that the pattern looked really amazing.

The Lunar Collection bien puede ser el gatito que sale en la foto, o el hecho de que incluye tres tamaños, o el bonito nombre, o probablemente todo eso junto, combinado con el hecho de que el patrón tenía una pinta estupenda.
So here you go my version of the Lunar Collection.
The pattern includes three different sizes, and they are called Full Moon, Half Moon and Quarter Moon. It is quite self explanatory which one refers to which size right? I needed a big bag for our travels, so I chose the Full Moon. Now I am ready for my next trip!

El patrón incluye tres tamaños que se llaman Full Moon, Half Moon y Quarter Moon. Todo nombres de lo más lunares. Yo elegí la luna llena, porque necesitaba una bolsa grande de viaje. ¡Ya estoy lista para mi próxima escapada!
This pattern is quite elaborate, but the effort is well worth it. The final result is just so great. It is a very roomy bag with two big drawstring pockets on the sides. In this size they are ideal for the shoes! It also has a flap pocket between the straps, that I converted into a zipper pocket. On the other side, you have the option to add a luggage sleeve, which is great to slip the suitcase handle through the bag, but I would hardly use it so I ommitted it.
Es un patrón algo laborioso de coser, que no difícil, y el esfuerzo bien merece la pena. El resultado final es fantástico y con todo lujo de detalles. Es una bolsa muy amplia con dos bolsillos grandes con cordón a los lados. En este tamaño, esos bolsillos son ideales para llevar los zapatos. También lleva un bolsillo con solapa entre las asas, pero yo lo convertí en un bolsillo con cremallera. En el otro lado, se puede añadir opcionalmente una pieza para pasar las asas telescópicas de las maletas por dentro y así llevarlo todo junto. Me parece muy práctico, pero yo personalmente no lo usaría mucho, así que no lo he añadido.
The fabrics that I used for the outside are cotton canvas and black linen from Ikea, aka the paradise for cheap fabrics with big bold and cool patterns. On the inside I used some rather christmasy quilting cotton that perfectly matches the zipper. As a stabilizer for the bag, I used some cheap foam that is usually used to make costumes.
Las telas exteriores son una loneta estampada de algodón y una de lino negra lisa, ambas de Ikea, el paraíso de las telas baratas con estampados grandes y molones. Dentro he usado unas telas de patchwork navideñas que combinan a la perfección con la cremallera. Para darle algo de cuerpo a la bolsa he usado foam para disfraces de Cal Joan, que es de lo más barato y tiene una función similar a otros material específicos para bolsos y mucho más caros.
