Ready for Xmas II

Sigo en modo vestido. Hoy os enseño el segundo que me he cosido en esta colaboración con Wardrobe by Me. Se trata del Wanda Dress.

Still in dress mode. Today I am showing you here the second dress that I made in my latest collaboration with Wardrobe by Me. It is the Wanda Dress.

It's a beautiful dress. It has a crossed body and wide skirt. It can be sewn with or without sleeves and it is not complicated at all to make. It requires quite a lot of yardage but it is so worth it. Again, I made size 38 graded to 40 at the hips and lenghtened a few cm.

A choose a super nice fabric from The Sweet Mercerie. Not available anymore because I took all that was left of it hehe... It is an interlock jersey, with quite some body and so comfortable, in a beautiful copper shade with lurex to make it shine. On the shadow it is not too obvious, but go under the sun or under a lamp and it goes all super shiny. So perfect for a party, don't you think?

Now I need an occasion to wear it. It would have been so perfect for the fancy dinners on the mini cruise that I was last month. And it would be great for a fancy New Year's party, or a wedding, or a special romantic dinner. I will surely think of something, because I love the dress and I want to wear it!

At least I already wore it once for the photoshoot. Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona is an amazing place to visit and take photos! Away from the center and away from the crowds. We had never been there before and boy, the city has so much to offer, it is such a shame that we always end up on the same known places. So now, everything we go there we will be trying to visit something new.

This is one of those makes that you know you won't wear much, because it is more for special occasions, but I think that for that reason I enjoyed the sewing even more. And the pattern is so versatile, the fabric choice is key and can change the style completely.

Which one do you like the most? This or the Asta that I showed you yesterday? If you like them, in WBM blog you'll find a coupon code to buy them with a discount until December 10th, so don't miss your chance!

And that's it. Sunday just flew away and I don't want it to be Monday again... Let me go sew for a while before the weekend is over. Have a nice evening!

Ready for Xmas

Christmas is coming, you all! Today is December 1st and all I can think of is "Where did the year go?". Time really flies. But this year my wardrobe is more ready than ever to celebrate and party. Collaborating with Wardrobe by Me has this bonus of getting out of my comfort zone and discovering new styles that I actually love and I never knew before.

¡Christmas is coming!

Meet the Asta Dress by WBM. One of their most popular patterns, and one of the two dresses that I made for myself. Easy, beautiful, comfortable and flattering. I just love it!

The fabric that I chose is a super soft and lightly brushed french terry by Atelier Brunette. It is navy with golden dots and it so reminds me of a winter starry night. It will be perfect to celebrate Xmas with my family, and also to wear it any other time.

I don't wear dresses very often, but that might even change. I felt so well wearing it around Barcelona the day that we took the pictures. It is comfortable, and most importantly, it is warm. Haha... the other discovery that I made is that my shoes look great with tights and socks!

As for the Asta Dress pattern, it is easy and fast to sew. I followed the measurement chart and made size 38 graded to a 40 at the hips, with no other adjustments appart from lenghtening a few cm to let it hit below my knee.

The pattern includes several sleeve lengths, and I of course went with the longest, because, well, it is cold. Hehehe... it was pretty cold during the pictures, but a bit of twirling and being silly surely helped to warm up.

In my next blog post tomorrow I will show you the Wanda dress. But in the meantime just let me tell you that in the WBM blog you can find a promotion code to get Asta and Wanda with a discount, so don't miss your chance!

It feels so good to be writing a post again. The blog has been silent for weeks, but I am happy to be back! Happy weekend everybody!

¡Feliz finde a tod@s!

Komi Kimono Jacket

Today I am here to show you my new Komi Jacket by Wardrobe by Me. The pattern has been updated with more options and sizes. This is my version as a tester.

It does look a bit too big on me, but the issue has been solved in the final version of the pattern, where the sizes have been reduced, so the next one will be just perfect. I will still get tons of use out of this one, because in winter I wear a milion layers when I work from home.

I love the pockets and the way the sleeves are hemmed.
I used a heavyweight knit fabric from Ribes i Casals. The jacket can be sewn in knit or woven fabric, isn't that great? It has two different front pattern pieces, one with darts and one without them. Also, the neck can be finished with a simple collar or a shawl collar. And there is also a sleeveless option.

And that was it for today's short post. Don't forget to check the versions by the other testers, there are some really beautiful ones! The pattern will be on release sale until next Friday, don't miss your chance!

Me encantan esas mangas.

Ribi has a new favorite sweater and today I am here to show it to you and link it to #mrhandmade and #maromartes.

I so wanted to continue experimenting with my new coverstitch machine and this pattern was perfect to add the constrating coverstitching with Fujix Woolie Lock thread. Doesn't it look great? But there obsviously is a but... be careful with the iron on that thread. At high temperatures it will melt. I won't tell you how I discovered that, because that is really a scary story that I want to forget.

Isn't this fabric so cool? Me and my husband love it. It is a knit jacquard that I bought from Stoff & Stil. Perfect for a plain sweater with a little special touch.

The pattern is the Rebel Raglan Sweater by Wardrobe by Me and could not fit him better. It is simply the perfect size and proportions. The only changes I did were to shorten the sleeves a couple of cm and also reduce the neckband, because on the first test that I did it was too big.

Days start to shorten and we have less hours availabe for photos... But we managed, last minute, at the sunset. The photographer me was on her nerves... the camera did not want to cooperate and I did not like any photos. My poor dear husband. I know you will read this, so: thankyou for your neverending patience and for not pushing me off the bridge. I love you and will make you another sweater to compensate, ok? But then we will need more photos lol.

¿Y vosotr@s? ¿Le habéis cosido algo a vuestro #mrhandmade?

¿And you? ¿Have you sewn something for your #mrhandmade recently?

Hepburn Pants

I made myself the most amazing pair of wide leg pants ever. As in really ever.
Thinking back in time, I haven’t really owned many pants in this style, and the one or two I might have had in the past were always too short and too not flattering at all.  Then the skinny jeans arrived, and those are all that I’ve been wearing in the past few years. It is so refreshing to wear something different for a change, and the wide leg seems to be back in trend, so this pattern has arrived at the perfect time.

Hoy vengo a enseñaros mis nuevos pantalones anchos.

These are the Hepburn Pants, the new pattern by Wardrobe by Me that I had the pleasure to test.
I am so happy that I was able to finish them, because the last weeks were a bit tough with family matters and life got so complicated that I wasn’t able to sit at the sewing machine until last minute. I had to rush, but luckily enough the only couple of stupid mistakes that I did because of the rushing are only visible from the inside lol.

My only complaint about this make is the fabric. I like the color and the feel of it, but it got plenty of faded lines when I prewashed it... which makes me think that it will probably get even more fading when I wash it again... Also, it is impossible to remove the wrinkles no matter how hot you iron it. It is a denim twill that I bought really cheap, so I guess that I got what I paid for.

After the two Cargos and the Chinos that I made for my husband, this was the fourth time with the same method of zip fly and welt pockets. It gets easier every time, but I still have a long way of improvement to go. Anyway, I am very happy with how these turned out! For the first time, I did not have to unpick the zipper even once! I think that after four more, maybe I will be able to sew it without the instructions lol.

I find the rise of the pants perfect. They are high waisted but not too much. Absolutely comfortable to wear!

The pattern includes two different options for the leg width, and I chose the widest one. I just thought that if I was going wide, then it had to be all the way wide. And I love it.

I also made sure to make them extra long. I lenghtened the pattern a few cm just in case. Better to trim afterwards, rather than end up with something too short. I tried them on with my shoes afterwards, and adjusted the length to almost touch the ground. I might try a cropped length in my next pair, we will see!

So, if you read up to here, and if you desperately need a pair of wide leg pants like these, don't miss your chance to grab your pattern while it is on release sale.

By the way, the top is also me made, it is a sleeveless Wardrobe Builder Tee, in linen jersey from The Sweet Mercerie. I am trying to decide how it looks better. Tucked in? or not?

I have been really busy lately with my work, and that has reduced my sewing time and my blogging time to very sad levels. I wanted to post yesterday but I did not manage, so I am posting today instead.

You already know that I am a big Wardrobe by Me fan. Today I am showing you another one of their patterns that I had the chance to try as tester. The Piper Tunic isn't a new pattern, but it has been updated with a wider size range and more options that allow for many different combinations as blouse, tunic or dress.

Don't pay much attention to my face... Appart from stressed, I took this pictures sick. There is nothing worse than a cold in august.

Nevertheless, I love my new blouse. It is easy to sew and so comfortable to wear. The fabric I used for it is a very lightweight cotton from Stoff & Stil.

Go check the other testers versions to see how versatile this pattern is. And if you like, don't miss your chance to get it while it is on release sale.
