Linea en Lisboa

I'm just back from a 4 day trip to Lisbon. It's a lovely city. My phone says that we walked 53,93 km in total. Most of them under a hot sun. Everyday we would arrive back to our accomodation exhausted, sweaty and with pain in feet and legs. We soon learnt to take a bus or tram when things got too up hill, but still a few hills a day were unavoidable. We also ate too many delicious pasteis de nata. But instead of adding those calories, I did actually lose some weight. Yay for the walking and the sweating.

Hemos pasado 4 días magníficos en Lisboa y quedamos enamorados de esa preciosa ciudad. Según mi teléfono, caminamos 53,93 km. La mayoría bajo un sol abrasador. Todos los días terminamos destrozados, empapados de sudor de pies a cabeza y con las piernas destrozadas. Aunque en seguida aprendimos a coger el tranvía o el autobús cuando la cosa subía demasiado, varias cuestas arriba al día eran inevitables. También comimos demasiados pasteles de nata, pero aún así adelgacé jaja. ¡Alabado sea el andar!

The most touristy attractions and areas are really nice, even with the too many tourists, but our favourite was without a doubt to get lost in just normal up and down streets away from the crowds. The buildings are so beautiful, the city has such an unique atmosphere. Good walking shoes required. No joke, leave the fancy shoes at home or you'll destroy your feet. I had my "super fashionable" trekking sandals on and still couldn't avoid a couple of blisters. So much so that I ended up "having to" (or rather "havind the perfect excuse to") buy a pair of shoes to change the friction areas. I of course chose a portuguese brand so that I could take them home as a souvenir hehehe.

Las zonas más turísticas y las principales atracciones son espectaculares, pero nuestra parte favorita fue la de perdernos por las calles normales, siempre cuesta arriba o cuesta abajo, lejos de la multitud. La arquitectura es preciosa, las calles tienen un encanto especial con sus aceras y calzadas adoquinadas. Eso sí, buen calzado obligatorio. En serio, los zapatos monos mejor dejarlos en casa o te destrozas los pies. Yo iba con mis sandalias de andar por el monte, así super fashion, y ni con esas me salvé. Terminé con dos ampollas y "tuve que" (o más bien "tuve la excusa perfecta para") comprarme otros zapatos para cambiar las zonas de roce. Las elegí de marca portuguesa, así que me sirven de souvenir jejeje...

The city was plenty of girls taking pictures in the most complicated, forced, sexy, cool and/or crazy poses, in full i-am-a-hot-influencer style, some even changing clothes in the middle of the street! It was so fun to spot them, and actually kept some ideas for our own pics. But I won't stand right in front of a tram before it runs over me. It should work from the side too, right?

Había por todos lados chicas sacándose fotos en las poses más complicadas, forzadas, sexys, alucinantes y/o estrambóticas, modo estoy-buena-y-quiero-ser-influencer jaja, algunas incluso se cambiaban de ropa en plena calle. Era divertido verlas e incluso retuvimos alguna idea para nuestras fotos, aunque yo paso de plantarme justo delante del tranvía para que me atropelle, mejor me quedo a un lado y listos.

So, I've talked too much already but haven't said a word about today's topic, which is actually my beautiful skirt. It is the Linea A-line skirt from Wardrobe by Me.

Pues eso, que el viaje fue genial, pero hoy iba a hablaros de otra cosa: mi nueva falda Linea de Wardrobe by Me.

I had already sewn it as part of the tester team months ago, but that time I made the knee length version. You can see it here! Then a few days ago I had the pleasure to meet Christina from WBM and her daughter. The girl was wearing the skirt in the version with the flounce, and I just fell in love, so when we got back home I looked at my stash, and made myself one right before our trip.

Ya me había cosido una como parte del equipo de testers hace unos meses, pero hice la versión hasta la rodilla sin el volante. Podéis verla aquí. Hace unos días tuve el placer de conocer a Christina de WBM en persona. Iba acompañada de su hija, y ella llevada la falda y me encantó. Así pues, cuando llegué a casa miré qué tela podía usar y me hice otra con el volante en un momento justo antes de irnos de viaje.

So cool when the funicular grafittis match your clothes, right! I used a blue cotton jersey with little flowers that I bought in The Sweet Mercerie some time ago. It is really sweet and comfy and was specially perfect to wear during the flights.

¡Mola que los grafitis del funicular combinen con tu ropa! Para la falda usé una tela de punto de algodón azul con florecitas que había comprado en The Sweet Mercerie hace un tiempo. Me gusta mucho como ha quedado y además es super cómoda. Me fue especialmente genial durante los vuelos.

The skirt is really flattering. And did I mention comfy? Yes I did, but I needed to repeat, because it really is super comfy. I paired it with a Rumi tank that I made a couple of years ago.

La falda sienta queda fenomenal. Y repito, super super cómoda. Aquí la combiné con un Rumi tank que cosí hace un par de años.

On our last day we were so tired that we could not bear another whole day under the sun so, for the warmest midday hours we decided to visit a shopping mall and take a break from the heat. Turns out there was the most amazing 360º panoramic view from there!

El último día estábamos ya hartos de tanto sol y durante las horas del mediodía nos refugiamos en un centro comercial para escapar un poco del calor. ¡Y resulta que había un mirador con las vistas de 360º más alucinantes en la azotea!

And that's it for today. Lisbon is such a great place to visit, and the Linea is a great skirt to sew and wear. I have promised myself that we will visit there again, and that I will sew another one no matter what!

Y eso es todo para el MiMi de hoy. Lisboa es una ciudad preciosa para visitar. Y la Linea es una falda muy fácil de coser y comodísima de llevar. He vuelto a casa con la promesa de que volveré a Lisboa, y de que me coseré otra sí o sí.

Ziggy Zipper Hoodie

Hoy me paso por #maromartes y #mrhandmade, ¡que ya tocaba! He tenido al mister un poco olvidado últimamente en lo que a costura se refiere, pero la espera ha tenido su recompensa porque su nueva sudadera le encanta.

It is time again for a #mrhandmade! He didn't get much sewing attention lately, but the wait was well worth it, because he so loves his new hoodie!

Se trata de la Ziggy Zipper Hoodie de Wardrobe by Me. Christina necesitaba fotos nuevas para este patrón, y por supuesto que me ofrecí voluntaria. Y Ribi se merece un monumento, porque sacar fotos de una sudadera de polar, a la una del mediodía, en agosto, en la playa, con un calor abrasador y toda la gente en bañador mirándonos raro desde la arena tiene su guasa y su mérito jaja...

The pattern is Ziggy Zipper Hoodie by Wardrobe by Me. Christina needed new pictures for this already existing pattern, and I of course volunteered, because well, I ♥ WBM, and you all already know that. Special mention must go to Ribi this time as well. He is the best. We took the pictures of a fleece hoodie jacket at 1 pm, in August, at the beach, with the hottest temperature and the brightest sun and all people in bathing suits looking weird at us from the sand. So please, big applause to him.

Qué decir de la sudadera. El patrón me ha gustado mucho. Las instrucciones son muy claras. Y le queda perfecta. Además, es un patrón unisex, así que va a caer otra para mí seguro.

About the hoodie, the pictures speak for themselves. Great pattern, very clear instructions, perfect fit. On top of that, it is a unisex pattern, so I will surely make on for myself too, and until then I am totally going to steal his hehe.

La tela es polar de Extrem Textil. Por fuera parece sudadera y por dentro lleva el polar. Es muy agradable y elástica y tiene un aspecto ligeramente satinado, que así en gris le da un toque muy guay.

Fabric is polar fleece from Extrem Textil. Looks like sweatshirt on the outside and has the fleece on the inner side. It has a nice touch and feel and is quite elastic. Also, it is very slightly shiny which looks great with the grey.

Sigo flipando cada vez que uso la recubridora. Qué bien quedan esas costuras. Utilicé puño de este que viene en tiras ya preparado, para las mangas perfecto, pero en la cintura no ha quedado muy bien por dentro, ya que el patrón está pensado para el puño normal que va doblado, así que la vista no me tapa toda la costura de la cremallera hasta el final, pero como queda por dentro y no se ve, tampoco me voy a agobiar por eso.

I am still wowed every time I used my coverstitch machine, doesn't it look great? I used ready made ribbing, the one that comes in a strip and is single layer. That made things a bit awkard at the waistband, because the pattern is designed for normal folded ribbing, so the facing doesn't cover all the zipper seam until the lower end. But oh well, that's on the inside and noone will see it so I'm not going to worry about it.

Aunque aún hace calor, por la noche ya empieza a refrescar y ya la estrenó y ya me ha pedido otra. Lo dicho, patrón totalmente recomendable. Además, me alegro de participar de nuevo en #mrhandmade, a ver si conseguimos que no lo cierren.

It is still too warm for a fleece jacket, but it already gets cooler at night and he did already wear it, and he did aleady ask for another. As said, I can only recommend this pattern. Also, I am happy to participate again in #mrhandmade with my little contribution and hoping that they won't close the linkparty.

Por último os voy a contar que ¡he conocido a Christina (la diseñadora detrás de WBM) en persona! Hace unos días compartimos unas horas y una magnífica cena con ella y Yolanda y Coloma. Si ya me gustaban sus patrones, ¡ahora soy fan total de una bellísima persona!

Last but not least, I need to tell you something very exciting! A few days ago I had the pleasure to meet Christina (the designer behind WBM) in personal and in real! We spent a few lovely hours together and shared an amazing dinner with her and Yolanda and Coloma. I already loved her patterns, but now I am the biggest fan of a wonderful person as well!

Amelia Bomber Jacket

I made a jacket!! Autumm, I am ready. Summer, I never get enough of you, but Heat please give me a little break. I have reached that point where my mind is already set into sewing long sleeve eventhough we are still having unbearably hot temps. 

¡Tengo chaqueta nueva! Otoño, estoy lista. Verano, sabes que me quedaría contigo todo el año, pero Calor, por favor, déjame respirar un poco, que estás inaguantable. He llegado a ese punto en que aunque aún nos estemos asando, mi mente costuril ya está en modo invierno. Será mi subconsciente deseando que haga frío ya de una vez... aunque en realidad tampoco quiero que termine el verano. En fin, la cuestión es quejarse jaja.

This is the Amelia Bomber Jacket by Wardrobe by Me. The pattern already existed, but it has now been updated with a larger size range and better instructions. I had wanted to sew it for long so testing the pattern was my perfect chance.

Hoy os enseño la Amelia Bomber Jacket de Wardrobe by Me. El patrón ya existía, pero ha sido actualizado con más tallas e instrucciones mejoradas. Hacía tiempo que quería coserla, y nada como un buen tester para darme el empujoncito que me faltaba.

The jacket is designed for woven fabrics, but I ended up choosing a knit with a little stretch, but not too much. It is a quilted sweatshirt by Mind the Maker that I got at Meter Meter. It was expensive but I just love it!

La chaqueta está diseñada para telas planas, pero yo elegí una de punto, como no. Es una sudadera acolchada de Mind the Maker que compré en Meter Meter. Me costó un ojo de la cara pero fue amor a primera vista y tuve que darme el capricho :) .

The jacket is fully lined. For the lining I used a black viscose. And for the rib, I finally got to try the ready made ribbings. It was a bit confusing to figure out how to sew it at the waistband, because the instructions are designed for the normal ribbing that gets folded, whereas this is a single layer. But I figured it out and I like the stripes! 

La chaqueta va completamente forrada. Para ello usé una viscosa negra. Y para los puños, finalmente probé esos que ya venden preparados en tiras. Tuve que pensar un rato para ver como coserlo en la cintura, ya que las instrucciones están pensadas para el puño normal que va doblado, pero al final salió bien y me encantan esas rayas.

The instructions are very clear to follow and although it isn't a quick easy sew, it went much faster than I expected. I am going to get a lot of wear out of this.

Las instrucciones son muy claras y, aunque no es la costura más fácil y rápida del mundo, tampoco fue tan complicado como me esperaba. La voy a usar un montón.

Ogden Cami

Entrada exprés para llegar a tiempo a MiMi, ¡esta semana si o sí! 

No hay mucho que contar sobre la Ogden Cami de True Bias porque es ya archiconocido, así que nada, aquí os dejo unas cuantas fotos de la que me he cosido para este verano con una viscosa de Meter Meter.

Modifiqué los tirantes para atarlos y alargué el cuerpo 3 cm, aunque no sé si realmente hacía falta...

Today’s post is going to be quick and short, because there isn’t much left to be told about the super famous and super amazing Ogden Cami by True Bias, right?

I had sewn it before, but due to size changes I could wear them anymore, so I needed a new one for this summer. I used a lovely viscose fabric from Meter Meter and hacked the straps so that I could tie them up. I lenghtened the top 3 cm, but now I am thinking that it wouldn't have been necessary.

Akinori Dress

I am just back from my beautiful holidays by the beach and it is about time to show you my new Akinori Dress. This already existing pattern by Wardrobe by me has been updated with a new size range and a couple of improvements, and I was part of the tester team.

Acabo de volver de vacaciones, que bien sientan unos días en la playa. Y que mal volver a la rutina jaja... pero mejor dejo mi humor de vuelta al trabajo de lado y cambio de tema para enseñaros mi nuevo vestido y pasarme por Mimi que ya toca. Es el Akinori Dress de Wardrobe by me. Es uno de sus primeros patrones, y ahora ha sido actualizado con más tallas y alguna pequeña mejora.

It is a great and flattering summer dress, and such a quick sew. I used a lightweight viscose fabric that I had on my stash and went brave and risking the whole thing when I decided to place the stripes in vertical direction. I totally love the result!

Es un vestido precioso y sienta fenomenal. Además, es fácil y rápido de coser. He usado una tela fina de viscosa que tenía por casa y en un momento de locura decidí arriesgarme y poner la rayas en vertical. ¡Pero resulta que me encanta como ha quedado!

The neckline and center detail make the pattern really special. 
La parte de arriba y esa pieza en el centro hacen que el patrón sea diferente y especial.

The ties come out of the sides of the center piece, and they are optional, so you decide whether you want a dress tied at the waist or you prefer the wear it loose.

Las tiras para atarlo a la cintura salen de la pieza central y son opcionales, así decides si lo quieres atado a la cintura o si prefieres llevarlo suelto.

I was wearing it during my holidays and I felt really well in it. The only thing left to wish is that I still were there enjoying the camping and the beach. But hey, summer is not over yet, and we are getting more holidays later on!

Estrené el vestido durante las vacaciones y me sentí super cómoda. Lo único que podría desear es que los días de camping y playa no se hubieran acabo. Pero bueno, ¡el verano acaba de empezar y pronto haremos otra escapada!

Harmony T-Shirt

Vuelvo al blog y a MiMi después de varias semanas... Últimamente cuesta llegar a todo y queda poco tiempo para coser, y menos para publicar. Por eso me gusta probar patrones, porque te obligas a hacer algo con fecha límite y a ponerte las pilas. Esta camiseta me pilló en un mes de locura, pero pensé que sería una costura fácil y rápida y que no me costaría encontrar el ratito para hacerla. Después resulta que el patrón te encanta y te acabas cosiendo cuatro... Porque no tenías tiempo para nada, pero cuando interesa sí que lo encuentras eh! Al final, supongo que lo único que me falta a menudo es la motivación para dejar de procrastinar y empezar a gestionar mi tiempo de manera más productiva.

Back to the blog after many silent weeks. Life has been hectic lately and that leaves less time for sewing and even less for posting here. But that's why I like to test patterns, because it forces you to meet a deadline and stop making excuses. I was very busy by the time this T-shirt arrived, but I thought that it would be simple and quick enough to sew and I would be able to find the time for it. Then it turned out that I loved the pattern and I ended up sewing four of them. I didn't have time for anything, but then I did find it somehow huh! At the end, I guess that what I sometimes lack is the motivation to stop procrastinating and start using my time in a more productive way.

Pues eso, aquí mi último tester para Wardrobe by Me. La Harmony T-Shirt es perfecta. Trae dos detalles diferentes para el escote. Mi preferido es este con las dos piezas solapadas, aunque el otro también me gusta. Es una camiseta ceñida en la parte del arriba y más holgada de la cintura hacia abajo. Eso se consigue con un fruncido en el delantero. A mi no me gusta ir muy ceñida, pero tampoco parecer un saco de patatas, y este patrón tiene el punto justo de holgura.

So yes, here you go my latest pattern test for Wardrobe by Me. The Harmony T-Shirt is perfect. It includes two different front details. This one here with the overlapped pieces is my favorite, although I also like the other one. The T-shirt fits tight on the upper part and loose from the waist down. I think it is the perfect balance between tight and loose and has a very flattering shape.

Lo más aconsejable es elegir una tela de punto con caída, de viscosa o similar. El detalle del escote se hace con tela plana. Me encanta porque yo vivo en camisetas, es lo que llevo casi siempre, y con esta tienes la comodidad habitual pero con un toque diferente.

A viscose knit o similar with a good drape is the best choice. And the front trim is done with woven fabric. I live in t-shirts, this is what I almost always wear, and I really love how this one is a comfy basic but with something special.

El patrón incluye dos largos con unos 10 cm de diferencia. Yo me quedé en un punto intermedio e hice la versión corta pero alargándola 3 cm. También incluye dos mangas diferentes, la "cap sleeve" que se ve en mis tres primeras camisetas y no sé como se dice en español... y una manga normal con distintos largos que podéis ver en mi última versión de la camiseta básica.

The pattern includes two different lenghts with 10 cm difference. I did something in between, and cut 3 cm longer than the shortest length. It also includes cap sleeves and a basic sleeve with different lengths.

El detalle con botones es también muy bonito, y aunque sea algo más laborioso, tampoco es nada complicado. Esta tela es un punto de viscosa de The Sweet Mercerie.

The front buttoned detail is also beautiful, right? It requires a little more time, but it is not complicated at all. This fabric is a viscose knit from The Sweet Mercerie.

Y por último, la versión de camiseta básica que también incluye el patrón. Me encanta cómo queda y me voy a hacer más seguro. Para esta utilicé una tela de punto de algodón de Cal Joan que compré hace ya tiempo.

And last but not least, the perfect basic t-shirt version that also comes with the pattern. Short or long sleeves, this is just the ideal shape! For this one I used cotton knit that I bought long time ago at Cal Joan.

Linea A-line Skirt

I love my new skirt. The colour doesn't show very well in the pics, but it is just dreamy. And it has pockets, and it is made of knit fabric, which makes it the comfiest thing ever.

¡Tengo falda nueva y me encanta! El color no se aprecia bien en las fotos, pero es precioso. Y tiene bolsillos, y es de punto. Más cómoda imposible.

This is the Linea A-Line Skirt, the new pattern by Wardrobe by Me that I had the pleasure to test. It includes different lengths, elastic waist, optional pockets, center seams (that you can also omit) and an option with a flouncy hem with a volant. I totally recommend that you go take a look at all the testers versions, because the different options and the fabric choices create such different looks!

Es la Linea A-Line Skirt, el nuevo patrón de Wardrobe by Me del que he sido tester. Incluye cinturilla elástica, varios largos, bolsillos opcionales, costuras centrales (que también se pueden omitir fácilmente) y otra opción con un volante para darle más vuelo. Os recomiendo que echéis un vistazo a las faldas que se han cosido las otras testers, porque según la versión del patrón y la tela elegida, parece una falda totalmente diferente.

I went with the shortest lenght with pockets. Made a size 42 in a beautiful double knit modal jersey from Meter Meter. The fabric wasn't cheap, but I just fell in love when I saw it and couldn't control the impulse. It has the perfect weight and, while it is quite drapey, it isn't as flimsy as a lightweight viscose jersey, which makes it ideal for this pattern.

Cosí la versión más corta con bolsillos en la talla 42. La tela es un punto de modal precioso de Meter Meter. Ha sido un capricho total porque no suelo comprar telas a ese precio, pero me enamoré en cuanto la vi y no pude controlar el impulso jeje. Tiene la caída perfecta y no es tan fina como un punto de viscosa normal, lo que la hace perfecta para este patrón.

I have paired it here with a black Wardrobe Builder Tee, also by WBM. And the fabric is also from Meter Meter, this is a cotton/modal blend that I absolutely love. Not as drapey as viscose jersey, but not as stiff as cotton jersey. I sometimes find viscose jersey too drapey and marking everything, so this is something in between and it is great! 

La he combinado con una camiseta Wardrobe Builder, también de WBM, en un punto negro de algodón/modal, que también es de Meter Meter y me ha encantado! Al combinar las dos fibras, no tiene tanta caída como un punto de viscosa, y tampoco es tan tiesa como un punto de algodón. Es un punto intermedio perfecto.

Note to myself: don't park the car at your photoshoot background! And another note to myself: sun right behind the head is weird.

 Finally, I just feel like telling you something totally unrelated to this or to sewing. This week I donated blood. For the first time. The excuse was Game of Thrones #bleedforthethrone campaign. And well, I actually don't even like GOT, but we ended up at the blood bank. Everything went smoothly, and I am so happy that I did it. I am also wondering why the heck I had not done it before? It is such a good feeling to know that I might have helped to save a life (or three, as they told us). It will surely not be the last time. And now, let's do some happy jumping and enjoy our sewing and our spring!

Por último, me apetece contaros algo que no tiene nada que ver con la falda o con la costura. Esta semana fui a donar sangre por primera vez. La excusa fue la campaña #sangraporeltrono #sagnapeltron de Juego de Tronos, que ya ves, ni siquiera me gusta la serie (hasta el punto que Ribi tiene prohibido mirarla si estoy yo delante, porque de verdad que me pongo mala con todas esas escenas tan gore). Total, sea cual sea el motivo, terminé en el banco de sangre. Fue todo muy rápido y bien, y estoy super feliz de haberme atrevido. Salí de allí preguntándome por qué narices no lo había hecho nunca antes y con una satisfacción inmensa de pensar que puedo haber ayudado a salvar una vida (o tres, como nos dijeron). No será la última vez, eso seguro. Y ya está, ¡a disfrutar de la vida, de la costura y de la primavera!
