Cómo me gustan las costuras compartidas. Hoy veréis muchas prendas con la misma tela en MiMi e Instagram. Carme de Palangana Parracs nos la regaló a Mei, a Merche y a mí después de conocernos en el taller de costura de bañadores que hicimos, pero no somos las únicas que participamos en el sarao.

Today I am here to show you my new kimono cardigan, made with a beautiful fabric that was a present from Palangana Parracs.

La tela fue sorpresa, hasta que abrí el sobre no tenía ni idea de cómo sería, y la verdad es que me encanta. Es de punto, algo transparente, con una caída bien chula, y enseguida me vino a la cabeza un kimono.

The fabric was a surprise and I had no idea about how it would be until I opened the envelope. It is a semi-transparent jersey with a nice drape, and I immediately saw a kimono cardigan.

Qué ganas de gasto innecesario tiene la gente en sus casas, en los restaurantes, los cines, o básicamente cualquier sitio cerrado en verano. En verano toca pasar calor, es lo natural. El aire acondicionado va muy bien si lo pones flojito para que el calor sea agradable y soportable. Pero ponerlo a temperaturas congelantes me parece de locos y me pone enferma, literal y metafóricamente.

People just go crazy in summer setting their air condictioners at freezing temperatures. Everywhere you go. You all, summer is supposed to be warm, so shouldn't we embrace warm and keep it natural? The air conditioner is great to keep a nice and pleasant warm but not too much temperature, but having to bear how they set it at such low temperatures just everywhere makes me literally sick.

Dicho sea de paso, este año nos hemos puesto por fin el aire en casa. El pasado verano me tocó trabajar a 30 grados en mi despacho, no hace falte que diga que se me derretían el ordenador y todas las neuronas, así que le dije a Ribi que este verano o aire o me pillaba vacaciones de tres meses hasta otoño. Jaja... tampoco hubiera estado mal eh. Mi temperatura de comfort es a unos magníficos 26-27 grados. Así que así de alto lo ponemos, y así se entiende porque en verano tengo que ir siempre con un jersey en el bolso para no congelarme en cualquier sitio que vaya. Pues eso, que este cardigan de estilo kimono me va genial para poder taparme un poco cuando me toque soportar el frío.

We just installed it at home a few weeks ago. Last summer I had to work at 30 celsius degrees in my home office, and I don't need to say that both my computer and brain ended totally melted, so I told Ribi that for this summer it was either an air conditioner or me taking 3 month holidays until autumm. Lol, that would have also been nice! My comfort temperature is at 26-27 degrees, and that is how we set the air conditioner. And that is why in summer I need to take a cardigan with me everywhere I go in order not to freeze. So, this cute kimono will be just great for that.

El patrón se basa más o menos en dos tutoriales: este y este, pero lo fui adaptando sobre la marcha.
Le he puesto unos flecos negros en el bajo para darle el toque de gracia.

The pattern is based on these two tutorials: this and this, but I modified it a bit as I went. I added this black fringe at the bottom for some fun.

Calypso femme

Hoy vengo a explicaros la historia de mi nuevo bañador y mi nueva toalla. Aunque también podría ser la historia de cómo hacerte un tatuaje en la espalda para todo el verano con la aplicación estratégica de crema solar (o no) jaja. La moraleja del cuento es "no te pongas tu misma la crema en la espalda porque te vas a dejar un cacho sin y te vas a quemar".

Today I am here to tell you the story of my new swimsuit and towel. But it could also very well be the story of how to get a sun lotion tatoo on the back... Lesson learnt. Do not apply the sun lotion yourself if you cannot reach it well, because you will leave a part with an odd shape without and you will get a sun burn.

Hace poco gané un sorteo chulo chulo en IG. Me tocó un patrón de bañador de la marca francesa Étoffe Malicieuse y un lote de telas de Mamzelle Fourmi que incluía una lycra para coserlo y tela para hacerme una toalla. ¡El kit completo!

A few weeks ago I won a really nice giveaway in IG. The prize was a swimsuit sewing pattern by the French brand Étoffe Malicieuse and a fabric kit from Mamzelle Fourmi including the lycra for the swimsuit and the fabrics to make a towel. The complete set!

El patrón Calypso femme incluye tres versiones muy distintas. Esta es la versión playa, hay otra de nadadora y otra con los hombros asimétricos. Los tres son chulísimos. Me ha encantado este patrón, sobretodo por las instrucciones tan completas que lleva. Están en francés, pero he podido entenderlo más o menos bien. Esta vez no he hecho ninguna modificación, pero en la próxima voy a seguir las instrucciones para subir un poco los laterales.

Calypso femme pattern includes tres different and equally cool versions. This is the beach version, there is also another for swimming and another with assymetrical shoulders. I really love the pattern, specially because it includes really detailed instructions. They are obviously in French, but I was able to understand more or less. This time I did not do any modifications, but for the next one I might open the legs a bit higher.

Lo voy a usar más en la piscina, pero como estábamos de mini vacaciones en la playa, aprovechamos para hacer las fotos. ¡Qué ganas de volver al Estartit tengo!

I will use it more for swimming at the pool, but since we were on mini vacation at the beach, we used our chance to take the pictures. And yes, I am dying to go there again.

La tela de lycra de Mamzelle Fourmi es chulísima, me encanta el estampado. Pude elegir la que más me gustaba de la tienda, y la elección no fue fácil, ¡todas eran tan bonitas! Y, aunque el bañador me encanta, esa toalla es un puntazo. Las que teníamos estaban muy viejas, y es de esas cosas que no se me hubiera ocurrido coserme si no me hubieran tocado las telas en el sorteo.

The lycra fabric by Mamzell Fourmi is so beautiful, I love the print. I was able to choose among all the prints available, and it was no easy choice at all, all of them were so nice! And although I love the swimsuit, the towel, ohhh the towel is just sooo amazing. Our beach towels were quite old, but this is one of those things you don't think of sewing, until you get the fabrics for free, of course hehehe.

Aquí también pude elegir los colores que quería, ¡y los elegí todos! En realidad tres medios metros me los regalaron, y el cuarto lo compré yo, porque la quería hacer enorme. Enseguida me imaginé una maxi toalla a rayas. Usé todo el ancho de la tela, así que mide aprox. 1,50 por 2 metros. Cabemos Ribi y yo y ya no se nos mete la arena en medio. Además es una tela super suave, por el lado bueno tiene un acabado aterciopelado que me encanta.

I chose all the available colors. Three half meters were the prize, and I bought the fourth one myself, because I wanted it big. I use the whole width of the fabric so it measures aprox. 1,50 x 2 m. Ribi and I both fit in it without any sand getting in between us. Aaaand the fabric is so soft, the right side has this velvety finish, really a dream to lay on.

Kielo Dress with The Sweet Mercerie

Today's post is picture-heavy. A special make like this required a good photo session, but what happens when you go to the beach early in the morning to avoid the crowd and take 300 pictures? It gets impossible to narrow it down to just a few. So enjoy them, or scroll down fast. In any case, this dress was worth the effort, because I absolutely love it.

La entrada de hoy viene bien cargada de fotos... una costura tan especial se merecía una buena sesión de fotos. Pero claro, después te toca seleccionar de entre 300 y reducirlo a unas pocas cuesta mucho! Así que nada, fotos a mogollón. Podéis disfrutarlas, o pasarlas rápido, pero el esfuerzo valió la pena, porque el vestido me requeteencanta. Y en realidad de esfuerzo nada... que ya sabéis lo que me gusta a mi hacerme fotos jeje...

 It is well known that I have become a huge fan of The Sweet Mercerie. I have often shared my makes with their fabrics, and I do buy regularly at their shop. Actually today I received the last order and I can't be thankful enough for the "husband-pacifying-lollipops" that they included as a treat lol. Now, jokes appart, I like their fabric selection and their reasonable prices. Almost always they have something that you cannot find anywhere else, so going through their shop is so fun!

Es por todos sabido que soy muy fan de The Sweet Mercerie. Me he cosido muchas cosas con sus telas, y compro en su tienda más de lo voy a reconocer jeje. De hecho hoy me llegó el último pedido. Son tan geniales que me han incluido un par de chupa chups para desviar la atención del costillo y que no se fije en el montón de telas jeje... La verdad es que me gusta esta tienda. Tienen telas diferentes que no se encuentran en otro sitio, y los precios son bastante razonables, sobretodo en rebajas, que es cuando me vuelvo más loca jejeje.

Yvonne contacted me a couple of weeks ago with a proposal, and I was over the moon with happiness when I found out what it was about. They would send me the fabric and the pattern to make a Kielo Dress by Named Clothing. Now, how cool is that? Thankyou again for counting on me, Yvonne!

The Kielo Dress is quite famous, and I had seen a milion versions of it online. It was one of those patterns that I really like, but I am not sure whether I would wear it, so I don't take the risk to do it. All I needed was a good excuse for it. And well, this was the perfect one!

El Kielo es un patrón bastante famoso, yo por lo menos había visto un millón de versiones online. Es de esos patrones que me encantan, pero no me arriesgo porque no sé si me lo voy a poner. Solo necesitaba una buena excusa para hacerlo, y desde luego, esta ha sido la mejor.

The dress is amazing. It is so simple and so easy to sew, but when you wrap it around your waist, it transforms into something sophisticated and with such a wow effect. Just magic! Appart from that, it is super comfortable to wear, specially this version in jersey.

El vestido es alucinante. Es super sencillo, se cose sin ninguna complicación, pero cuando te lo atas a la cintura se transforma en algo sofisticado con ese efecto wow. ¡Por arte de magia! Aparte, es comodísimo, especialmente esta versión en tela de punto.

Apparently,  Named patterns are designed for a height of 172 cm, which is exactly my height, so I didn't need to do any changes at all. The fit is perfect. I will certainly repeat this pattern again, because I want to try a knee length too.

Por lo que parece, los patrones de Named están diseñados para una altura de 172 cm, lo cuál me viene perfecto porque es exactamente lo que mido yo y no tuve que hacer ninguna modificación. Me encanta como me queda y ya estoy pensado en el próximo que voy a hacerme, probablemente por la rodilla.

And the fabric is amazing. This wax-style print is the perfect match for the pattern. It is bold enough to catch attention without being too much. It is a medium weight jersey with 30% stretch, not transparent at all, not too stiff and not too drapey, just what the pattern requires.

Y qué puedo decir de la tela. Este estampado de estilo wax combina a la perfección con el patrón. Es llamativo, pero solo lo justo. Es una tela de punto de peso medio con un 30% de elasticidad, no transparenta nada y no es ni muy rígida ni muy caída, exactamente lo que pide este patrón.

The Sweet Mercerie is offering this fabric and the Kielo Dress pattern as a kit for a reduced price. You can find it here. And let me tell you that, at least in the smaller sizes, you won't use the 3 m of fabric included. For my dress in size 40, I used around 1,90 m... which meant a lot of fabric left that I was able to use for another garment hehehe... But that one I will show you another day.

En The Sweet Mercerie ofrecen la tela y el patrón como kit y por un precio reducido. Lo encontrareis aquí. Y dejad que os diga una cosa: el kit lleva 3 m de tela... y, por lo menos en las tallas más pequeñas, os va a sobrar un montón seguro. Yo utilicé 1,90 m para la talla 40, y con lo que me sobró me hice otra cosa super chula, que os enseñaré otro día :).

As soon as I had the dress on my mind, even before receiving the fabric, I knew that I wanted to take the photos at the beach. Sometimes me and my dear hubby photographer go a bit crazy lol, but I had always wanted to take pictures with a maxi dress soaking in the water. Of course we first took the dry ones to be safe hehehe. I could have gone much more crazy and get all in, but that would have been probably too much lol.

Desde que me propusieron coser el vestido, incluso antes de recibir la tela, ya tenía claro que quería sacar las fotos en la playa. A veces nos volvemos un poco locos el costillo y yo, pero siempre había querido hacerme fotos con un vestido largo mojándose en el agua. Está claro que primero hicimos las fotos en seco jeje... Me hubiera podido volver más loca y meterme entera pero creo que ya habría sido demasiado jajaja.

Think "beach in Spain in summer", and the immediate thought that comes to mind is "crowded!-no-way-i'm-going-supermodel-in-front-of-so-many-people". But there is always a way, right? So you plan a weekend and go camping at the beach, wake up at 7 am, walk through a forest in a maxi dress and heels to arrive to a remote and empty beach and be able to have your dreamed photo session without any public. The funniest was after a while... when people started arriving... it was a nudist beach, and there was quite the contrast between their amount of coverage and mine lol.

Ahora bien, ¿qué os viene a la cabeza cuando pensáis en la playa en verano? La respuesta está clara: "gente, mucha gente, ni de coña me pongo en plan supermodelo frente a tal multitud!". Pero cuando te propones algo encuentras la manera, así que nada, planeamos un finde de camping en la playa, nos levantamos a las 7 de la mañana procurando no despertar a los vecinos, atravesamos un bosque con maxi vestido y tacones para llegar a la playa desierta y hacernos la sesión de fotos de mis sueños sin público. jajaja... lo bueno vino después, cuando empezó a llegar más gente, porque la playa era nudista y digamos que mi atuendo tapada de arriba a abajo contrastaba un poco con el suyo jajajaja.

So yes. I am absolutely happy with my dress, and so thankful to The Sweet Mercerie for giving me the chance to step out of my comfort zone. I never thought I would like it this much. Soon I am going to the beach again and will surely wear it to go out in the evening.

Y hasta aquí mi vestido, que me encanta no, lo siguiente. Estoy tan contenta que The Sweet Mercerie contara conmigo y me hiciera salir de mi zona de confort... Pronto nos vamos de nuevo a la playa, jaja... a hacer más fotos de otras cosas... pero sobretodo a disfrutar de unos días de sol y calma. Y el vestido me lo llevo, porque me lo voy a poner seguro para salir por la noche.

Of course, we had to take the jumping photo as well hehe... with the dress unwrapped to go completely crazy lol. Oh... I think that I have been laughing a lot while writing this. lol and haha in every paragraph... but I am just that happy with my "Sweet Kielo"! Happy Friday everybody!

Por supuesto no podía irme sin dejaros la foto saltarina. Esta vez con el vestido desatado y a lo loco jeje... Me estoy dando cuenta que hoy he llenado la entrada de jejes y jajas... pero es que estoy así de feliz con mi "Sweet Kielo"!

Cargo Shorts

Después de la última limpieza de armario, a Ribi solo le quedaban unos shorts para el verano. Concretamente los Jedediah que le cosí el año pasado y que todavía le encantan, pero claro, unos shorts para llevar a diario durante tres meses es como un poco justo y había que solucionarlo, así que cuando anunciaron el nuevo tester de Wardrobe by me no me lo pensé dos veces. Tener fecha de entrega es la manera ideal de asegurarte de que vas a terminarlo sin riesgo a dejarlo a medias por pereza a la cremallera jaja. Seguramente me entendéis. A veces nos limitamos mentalmente de la manera más tonta.

After the last closet cleanup, Ribi had only one pair of shorts left for the summer. Specifically the Jedediah that I made for him last year and which he still loves. But obviously, one pair of shorts is not quite enough to go through the summer, so that needed to be fixed, and I jumped of joy when the new pattern test from Wardrobe by me was announced. Having a deadline is the best way to make sure that you will finish the pants, without the risk of leaving it half done because you are lazy for the zip fly lol. You know... those mental and silly limitations that we set to ourselves and lead us to procastinate forever.

El nuevo patrón Cargo Shorts de WBM es una pasada. ¡Quedan genial! Los bolsillos superpuestos de los lados y el refuerzo de detrás son la gracia del patrón, pero también son opcionales, por lo que se puede coser un look totalmente distinto si los omitimos. Los próximos que le haga serán así, para variar un poco.

The new Cargo Shorts pattern by WBM is absolutely great. The fit is so spot on! The side pockets and the back reinforcement are really cool and they are the main design features of the pattern. But they are also optional, and you can get a totally different look by omitting them. The next pair I make will be like that, to vary a bit and make it look like it is a completely different pair of shorts.

Los bolsillos de tapeta traseros han sido una grata sorpresa. El método que se explica en el patrón es muy sencillo y totalmente comprensible. En realidad, las instrucciones son muy claras en su totalidad. Evidentemente es una costura algo laboriosa, pero si sigues paso a paso el texto y las ilustraciones no tiene pérdida. Esta vez me lo tomé con mucha calma, cosiendo tranquilamente y disfrutando de cada paso. Así da gusto, que coser con prisas no es bueno.

The welt pockets have been such a pleasant surprise. The system used in the pattern to create those pockets is the easiest that I have ever seen. Actually, the complete instructions are absolutely clear and easy to follow. Sewing the pants takes obviously some time, but nothing can't go wrong if you follow the step by step texts and illustrations. I usually tend to sew fast and finish things as if I were on a race, but this time I enjoyed going slowly and paying full attention to every detail. It has been a pleasure to sew these shorts!

Por supuesto, tengo que hablaros también de la tela, porque me ha encantado. Se trata de la sarga docker twill de Cal Joan. Es una sarga de algodón con elastano que le da un poco de elasticidad y hace que sea super cómoda de llevar. Además se cose muy bien.

The fabric that I used is a cotton twill with elastane from Cal Joan. It is a high quality, so easy to sew and so pleasant to wear. Will use it again for sure, and it is the perfect match for this pattern.

¿Os habéis fijado en los botones? Parecen rotos jeje, me enamoré en cuanto los vi en la mercería. No os miréis mucho los pespuntes, que mi máquina, pobre, no da para más.

Did you see the buttons? They look like broken, I just fell in love when I saw them in the shop! Don't pay much attention to the topstitching, please. My little sewing machine, poor girl, can't do any better.

Ribi dice que los shorts son comodísimos, y además le van clavados. En tiendas, normalmente solo encuentras las tallas pares y se tiene que comprar la 40, aunque le sobre un poco, porque la 38 le va pequeña. El patrón, en cambio, lleva todas las tallas, de la 27" a la 36", así que he podido coserle la 29", que le va perfecta.

My husband says the shorts are super comfortable to wear and they fit him perfect. In the RTW there is usually only the even sizes available, so very often he has to get the 30", even if a little too big, because the 28" is too small. This time he got a perfect fitting 29"! The pattern includes all sizes from 27" to 36".

La camiseta es la Bram Raglan, también de WBM. La tela principal es punto de camiseta jaspeado también de Cal Joan. La azul de las mangas, del fondo del armario de retales.

También le hice otra camiseta con una tela de una tienda francesa, Mamzelle Fourmi. Poco a poco vamos llenando su armario, que falta le hace.

So much so, that he made me sew another one. This time with a fabric from a french shop, Mamzelle Fourmi. Little by little I am filling his closet with handmade clothes! 

Los Cargo Shorts valen mucho la pena. Es una patrón muy muy chulo, y no lo digo porque haya sido tester. Sientan fenomenal y Ribi está encantadísimo con ellos. Today I'll show you the three pairs of shorts that I made as a part of the tester team.

Tengo que decir que estos tres shorts son comodísimos y los estoy usando casi a diario. El patrón incluye dos largos diferentes y está pensado para tela plana, pero se pueden hacer perfectamente de sudadera eligiendo una talla menos. Los míos son todos de sudadera de verano y en la versión más corta.

These shorts are super comfortable and I am wearing them daily. The pattern includes two different lengths and it is thought for woven fabrics, but it works perfect with french terry if you choose one size smaller. Mine are all made of french terry and the shortest version.

Las instrucciones (en alemán pero con muchas fotos) son muy detalladas y, además de lo básico, incluyen mucha información para terminar los bajos y los bolsillos de distintas maneras.

The instructions (in German but with plenty of pics) are very detailed and appart from the basics, there is also plenty of extra information to finish the hem or the pockets in different ways.

Además es un proyecto genial para deshacerse de algunos retales, porque no necesitan mucha tela.

It is the perfect project to use some scraps, because they don't use much fabric at all!

Estos azules los hice con lo que me sobró de esta sudadera. La tela de estos shorts y la de la camiseta son de The Sweet Mercerie.

The blue shorts are made with the scraps that I had left after sewing my Josie Hoodie. Both this and the t-shirt's fabric are from The Sweet Mercerie.

Para los shorts rosas, el retal es una tela de Lillestoff que cosí hace ya un par de años.

For the pink shorts, I used some scraps from a beautiful Lillestoff fabric that I had sewn a couple years ago.

No hay bikini sin dos

La semana pasada ya os dije que me había cosido dos bikinis. Hoy os enseño el primero. Mismo patrón, pero esta vez combinando dos telas, la estampada es de Tejidos Pulido y la lisa de Cal Joan.

Last week I told you that I had made myself two bikinis. Today I am here to show you the first one that I sewed. Same pattern, but this time I combined a patterned and a solid fabric.

Si recordáis el de la semana pasada, y si no podéis verlo aquí con todos los detalles, en la braguita llevaba 4 tiras en los laterales. En este me hice la braguita con el patrón original, más alta y con las tiras más separadas.

If you remember the other bikini, and if not you can see all the details here, the bottom had 4 strips on each side. In this one here I first used the original pattern, which has a higher rise and with fewer strips on the side.

Después me hice otra braguita adaptándola un poco: más baja de cintura y con los laterales cubiertos. ¡Así tendré donde elegir según me pille el día!

Afterwards, I made another bottom adapting it a bit: lower rise and covered side. This way I can choose depending on the day!

Como es reversible, puedo llevarlo de varias formas. La parte de arriba es toda estampada por un lado y medio estampada medio lisa por el otro. No sabría decir cómo me gusta más, así que tendré que hacer un día de cada jeje.

Since it is completely reversible, I can wear it in different way. The top is all patterned on one side and half patterned, half solid on the other. I really can't decide which one I prefer, so I will have to show each day one of them lol.
