Today's post is picture-heavy. A special make like this required a good photo session, but what happens when you go to the beach early in the morning to avoid the crowd and take 300 pictures? It gets impossible to narrow it down to just a few. So enjoy them, or scroll down fast. In any case, this dress was worth the effort, because I absolutely love it.
La entrada de hoy viene bien cargada de fotos... una costura tan especial se merecía una buena sesión de fotos. Pero claro, después te toca seleccionar de entre 300 y reducirlo a unas pocas cuesta mucho! Así que nada, fotos a mogollón. Podéis disfrutarlas, o pasarlas rápido, pero el esfuerzo valió la pena, porque el vestido me requeteencanta. Y en realidad de esfuerzo nada... que ya sabéis lo que me gusta a mi hacerme fotos jeje...
It is well known that I have become a huge fan of The Sweet Mercerie. I have often shared my makes with their fabrics, and I do buy regularly at their shop. Actually today I received the last order and I can't be thankful enough for the "husband-pacifying-lollipops" that they included as a treat lol. Now, jokes appart, I like their fabric selection and their reasonable prices. Almost always they have something that you cannot find anywhere else, so going through their shop is so fun!

The Sweet Mercerie. Me he cosido muchas cosas con sus telas, y compro en su tienda más de lo voy a reconocer jeje. De hecho hoy me llegó el último pedido. Son tan geniales que me han incluido un par de chupa chups para desviar la atención del costillo y que no se fije en el montón de telas jeje... La verdad es que me gusta esta tienda. Tienen telas diferentes que no se encuentran en otro sitio, y los precios son bastante razonables, sobretodo en rebajas, que es cuando me vuelvo más loca jejeje.

The Kielo Dress is quite famous, and I had seen a milion versions of it online. It was one of those patterns that I really like, but I am not sure whether I would wear it, so I don't take the risk to do it. All I needed was a good excuse for it. And well, this was the perfect one!
El Kielo es un patrón bastante famoso, yo por lo menos había visto un millón de versiones online. Es de esos patrones que me encantan, pero no me arriesgo porque no sé si me lo voy a poner. Solo necesitaba una buena excusa para hacerlo, y desde luego, esta ha sido la mejor.
The dress is amazing. It is so simple and so easy to sew, but when you wrap it around your waist, it transforms into something sophisticated and with such a wow effect. Just magic! Appart from that, it is super comfortable to wear, specially this version in jersey.
El vestido es alucinante. Es super sencillo, se cose sin ninguna complicación, pero cuando te lo atas a la cintura se transforma en algo sofisticado con ese efecto wow. ¡Por arte de magia! Aparte, es comodísimo, especialmente esta versión en tela de punto.
Apparently, Named patterns are designed for a height of 172 cm, which is exactly my height, so I didn't need to do any changes at all. The fit is perfect. I will certainly repeat this pattern again, because I want to try a knee length too.
Por lo que parece, los patrones de Named están diseñados para una altura de 172 cm, lo cuál me viene perfecto porque es exactamente lo que mido yo y no tuve que hacer ninguna modificación. Me encanta como me queda y ya estoy pensado en el próximo que voy a hacerme, probablemente por la rodilla.
And the fabric is amazing. This wax-style print is the perfect match for the pattern. It is bold enough to catch attention without being too much. It is a medium weight jersey with 30% stretch, not transparent at all, not too stiff and not too drapey, just what the pattern requires.
Y qué puedo decir de la tela. Este estampado de estilo wax combina a la perfección con el patrón. Es llamativo, pero solo lo justo. Es una tela de punto de peso medio con un 30% de elasticidad, no transparenta nada y no es ni muy rígida ni muy caída, exactamente lo que pide este patrón.
The Sweet Mercerie is offering this fabric and the Kielo Dress pattern as a kit for a reduced price. You can find it here. And let me tell you that, at least in the smaller sizes, you won't use the 3 m of fabric included. For my dress in size 40, I used around 1,90 m... which meant a lot of fabric left that I was able to use for another garment hehehe... But that one I will show you another day.

As soon as I had the dress on my mind, even before receiving the fabric, I knew that I wanted to take the photos at the beach. Sometimes me and my dear hubby photographer go a bit crazy lol, but I had always wanted to take pictures with a maxi dress soaking in the water. Of course we first took the dry ones to be safe hehehe. I could have gone much more crazy and get all in, but that would have been probably too much lol.
Desde que me propusieron coser el vestido, incluso antes de recibir la tela, ya tenía claro que quería sacar las fotos en la playa. A veces nos volvemos un poco locos el costillo y yo, pero siempre había querido hacerme fotos con un vestido largo mojándose en el agua. Está claro que primero hicimos las fotos en seco jeje... Me hubiera podido volver más loca y meterme entera pero creo que ya habría sido demasiado jajaja.
Think "beach in Spain in summer", and the immediate thought that comes to mind is "crowded!-no-way-i'm-going-supermodel-in-front-of-so-many-people". But there is always a way, right? So you plan a weekend and go camping at the beach, wake up at 7 am, walk through a forest in a maxi dress and heels to arrive to a remote and empty beach and be able to have your dreamed photo session without any public. The funniest was after a while... when people started arriving... it was a nudist beach, and there was quite the contrast between their amount of coverage and mine lol.
Ahora bien, ¿qué os viene a la cabeza cuando pensáis en la playa en verano? La respuesta está clara: "gente, mucha gente, ni de coña me pongo en plan supermodelo frente a tal multitud!". Pero cuando te propones algo encuentras la manera, así que nada, planeamos un finde de camping en la playa, nos levantamos a las 7 de la mañana procurando no despertar a los vecinos, atravesamos un bosque con maxi vestido y tacones para llegar a la playa desierta y hacernos la sesión de fotos de mis sueños sin público. jajaja... lo bueno vino después, cuando empezó a llegar más gente, porque la playa era nudista y digamos que mi atuendo tapada de arriba a abajo contrastaba un poco con el suyo jajajaja.
So yes. I am absolutely happy with my dress, and so thankful to The Sweet Mercerie for giving me the chance to step out of my comfort zone. I never thought I would like it this much. Soon I am going to the beach again and will surely wear it to go out in the evening.
Y hasta aquí mi vestido, que me encanta no, lo siguiente. Estoy tan contenta que The Sweet Mercerie contara conmigo y me hiciera salir de mi zona de confort... Pronto nos vamos de nuevo a la playa, jaja... a hacer más fotos de otras cosas... pero sobretodo a disfrutar de unos días de sol y calma. Y el vestido me lo llevo, porque me lo voy a poner seguro para salir por la noche.
Of course, we had to take the jumping photo as well hehe... with the dress unwrapped to go completely crazy lol. Oh... I think that I have been laughing a lot while writing this. lol and haha in every paragraph... but I am just that happy with my "Sweet Kielo"! Happy Friday everybody!
