I just cloned my husband hehehe. I needed two models, and it will be amazing to have double husband love and care. I call them R1 and R2 and they have gotten along well so far, but our bed is definetely too small for three. Lol.

Ok, back to reality. :-D. This post is not about two husbands, but about two jackets for the only one husband. I was part of the tester team for the latest realese by Wardrobe by Me, and let me tell you, the new Men's Fleece Jacket is just amazing! It is a sporty fleece jacket with two side and one inner pockets, raglan sleeves with extra seams for a better shaping, and includes the option of collar or hood.
Mejor volvamos a la realidad jeje. Esta entrada no va de duplicar maridos, sino de coser dos chaquetas iguales pero diferentes. Wardrobe by Me acaba de sacar su último patrón, la Men's Fleece Jacket, del cual he sido tester. Es una chaqueta deportiva pensada para forro polar o softshell, con dos bolsillos exteriores y uno interior, mangas raglán con costuras extra de arriba a abajo para darles una mejor forma, y también incluye la opción de cuello simple o capucha.
This is my first version. I used Polartec P-Stretch fleece, it looks like jersey on the outside, and the fleece is on the inner side. It is super warm and stretchy, perfect for this style. I bought it at Extrem Textil, a german shop that sells technical and sport fabrics from the big sport fashion manufacturers.
Esta fue mi primera versión. La hice con forro polar P-Stretch de Polartec. Por el exterior es como jersey, y el polar está en el reverso. Es muy elástica y cálida, perfecta para este estilo. La compré en Extrem Textil, una tienda alemana que vende telas técnicas y deportivas, muchas de ellas procedentes de los principales fabricantes de ropa deportiva.
It was a pleasure to sew and I of course had to go a bit coverstitch crazy hehe. I had the perfect color matching thread and it looks so great for this sporty look. I only had one cone of it, but thanks to this tutorial by Naii I was able to make smaller spools of thread out of it. I made size M and the only change was to shorten the sleeves 3 cm.
Disfruté mucho cosiéndola y, como no, me dio por usar la recubridora en todas las costuras posibles. Tenía el color exacto, aunque solo un cono, pero recordé un tutorial de Naii de como pasar de conos a carretes y me fue perfecto. Ahí es cuando de alegras de ser así de friki y no haber tirado los carretes vacíos jejeje. En fin, cosí la talla M y el único cambio fue acortar las mangas 3 cm.
The chest inner pocket is placed a bit too low here. That was solved during testing though, and the final version has the pocket in the perfect position.
El bolsillo interior en el pecho quedó un poco bajo. Pero se resolvió durante el tester y en la versión final está donde debería, como se ve en la chaqueta azul más abajo.
And now we come to version 2, this time in softshell!
Y aquí la chaqueta number 2! Esta es de softshell.
The pattern is also suitable for this material, but it needs to be taken into account that softshell fabric is less stretchy than fleece. Therefore, the pattern includes separate sleeve pieces, which are slightly wider on the forearm, to sew with this or other non stretchy materials.
El patrón también es adecuado para este material, pero sí que hay que tener en cuenta que el softshell tiene menos elasticidad que el forro polar. WBM lo ha tenido en cuenta, y por eso el patrón incluye piezas distintas para las mangas que son un poco más anchas en el antebrazo, para coser con este material o cualquier otro que no sea muy elástico.
In a less stretchy fabric like softshell, the jacket will feel a bit tighter. This is not a problem at all, but something to be aware of. The fit here is perfect for my husband. It is a lightweight softshell that he plans on wearing with only a thin layer underneath, perfect for spring or summer. If I make him another one for autumm/winter (which he already requested) I will cut one size larger to be able to wear it with a thicker pullover underneath. Appart from that, this fabric only has crosswise stretch, so I did not need to shorten the sleeves, as opposite to the fleece version.
Al tener menos elasticidad, la chaqueta queda más ajustada. No es ningún problema, pero sí algo a tener en cuenta. Esta le va perfecta a Ribi. Es un softshell muy ligero que va a llevar solo con una camiseta debajo, perfecto para primavera o incluso verano, justo lo que él quería. Y como le ha gustado tanto, ya me está pidiendo otra para otoño. Cuando se la haga, seguramente la cortaré una talla más grande para que pueda llevar una sudadera debajo. Aparte de eso... como esta tela no tiene ninguna elasticidad a lo largo, no tuve que acortar las mangas.
The fabric that I used for this is also from Extrem Textil. It is called Softshell GTX and is a lightweight 3 layer softshell, water and wind resistant and breathable. The outside is blue and the inside a very bright yellow-green. I love the combination and that the inside is visible in the hood. He has already worn it to running and is super happy with it.
La tela también es de Extrem Textil. Se llama Softshell GTX y es un softshell ligero de 3 capas, repelente al agua, cortavientos y transpirable. Por fuera es azul y por dentro es de un amarillo-verde muy chillón. Me encanta la combinación y que el interior se vea en la capucha. La ha usado ya para ir a correr y está encantadísimo.
As you've seen, this is the hooded version. The fit is perfect! I used a matching cord with a double stopper, but he would only need to pull it tight in case of very extreme weather conditions, otherwise it stays in place as is.
Ya habéis visto que esta es la versión con capucha. ¡Le va perfecta! Le he puesto un cordón con un tope doble, pero le queda tan bien puesta que no creo que necesite ajustársela para nada, a menos que se dé el caso de condiciones extremas jejeje.
And here the inside view with all the pockets. I used the same fabric because I didn't have anything else that would match, but something lighter like jersey would also work.
Y aquí por dentro con todos los bolsillos. Usé la misma tela porque no tenía nada más que combinara, pero algo más fino como una tela de camiseta también hubiera ido bien.
Invisible zippers. I definetely should get an invisible zipper foot for my sewing machine... because I don't have one, and that makes it complicated to get a good finish. But anyways, if I show you the pocket open, it won't be that noticeable that, while the zippers don't look bad, they are not as invisible as they are supposed to be lol. But that's totally on me, because the instructions for the zippers are great, if you have the right presser foot.
Cremalleras invisibles. Está claro que me tengo que comprar el prensatelas, porque coserlas sin las herramientas adecuadas es complicado. Pero bueno, tampoco ha quedado tan mal, lo único que no son tan invisibles como deberían jeje... pero si os la enseño abierta se nota menos. Las instrucciones son muy claras, y para la próxima tendré el prensatelas y me quedará mucho mejor.
This time I only coverstitched with a single stitch, but I love how perfect the stitch is! Would never be able to look this good with my sewing machine! The pattern instructions don't mention to topstitch the sleeve seams, but I did anyway because I like how it looks.
En esta solo he hecho costuras simples, pero ¿y lo bien que queda con la recubridora? Nunca hubiese quedado así con la plana! En las instrucciones no se incluyen las costuras de las mangas, pero a mí me gusta más así, queda mejor acabado.
And that's it!! Hubby is more than happy and hasn't stopped wearing them since. A few more will come for sure! The pattern by WBM has just been released and will be on sale until end of the month, so don't miss your chance if you want to make the men in your life happy.
